5 year MAX contracts? Wonder how they would handle that going forward with all these LONG term deals that were just signed..
I would assume they wouldn't be affected since they were signed under the previous CBA...I think that's why you saw teams locking players up long-term just before it expired.

    I'm not seeing it anywhere...

Is there a time by which the NHLPA has to respond to the offer?

I wouldnt get your hopes up.

Teh NHLPA will see this as a starting point of negotiations and will see it as doing themselves a disservice by agreeing to the terms.

The NHL with people in its corner will then pull the offer blaming the time constraints.

NHL lockout: Owners say they made '50/50' offer, 82-game plan

    http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2 ... rank-luntz

I don't think the players will accept the 5 year contract limit...with concussions these days.

    everyone makes money
and us crazed fans keep continue to buy in,..

up front ... looks like a great move ... and definitely gives the owners an up on the PR battle ... but there are details like what constitutes HRR ... i hear the owners wanted to take out concession sales and seat licenses amongst other things ...

then if that stuff is removed then I don't see the players buying in...they sell a lot of 12 beer in those stadiums.
The current proposal is based on the CURRENT definition of HRR, so the details would remain unchanged. This is a huge factor in the fairness of the deal.

one of the links here said it was for the nhlpa to discuss the proposal. they said they just recieved it and have not had time to fully review it or crunch the numbers.

i would say there's reason for hope ... the players want to play ... if this deal is anywhere remotely reasonable - they will take it ...

    conference call vs press conference.

the nhlpa will be discussing how to publicly spin rejecting the proposal

    new deal details

Players become FA's at 28 or after 8 years of service
    ELC's would be 4 yrs
Max contracts would be 5 years
    Arbitration still in existence

    c'mon lets do this !

yeah the 5 pm is a conference call with the reps for NHLPA

They still want to play 82 games. :!: :o

Season will end later than the NBA Finals. Although it's almost to that point already.

Wow, apparently the NHL wants AHL contracts included in the cap.
Basically teams cannot send/hide players down in the minors without penalty.
