There is talk that Dottel will now be the closer, and they are looking to see if there's an injury. I don't think he's ever been this bad since coming to Detroit. My guess is he'll be replaced by Villarreal at some point. There is just no way you can let your team work that hard and then allow Valverde to blow ... and its not like these hits he's giving up are lightly hit balls ... they are well hit balls.

Surprisingly their bullpen is still in good shape for todays game ... they didn't use Alburqueque or Porcello ... and Benoit had a light inning. I would think other than Smyly there all available.

that's how he pitched in Houston as well. he's beyond talented....but he is too inconsistent. Dotel should close from here on out.

Valverde been like that since he's been with Detroit ... Something is wrong with him ... Fortunately for the Tigers he's a free agent after these play offs ... So that frees up 8 million ... Because I suspect Illitch is at the top end of his payroll limit.

The cardinals-giants series is the first time in the history of the League Championship Series that the last two World Series champions have met to battle for either league's pennant.

and congrats to bud for scheduling 2 playoff games during the 6th week of the nfl...what a tool

1-0 going to the 8th. If he puts him in I'm turning this shit off. Hate the yankees with a passion, but karma is a bitch. Can't say valverde's cocky ass antics didn't deserve this.

Guilty as charged. Don't think I'm alone with that regards to the yankees. This article sums up plenty of reasons why I was happy to see a call go against the yankees.

Big difference, especially with the poor play of the Tigers pen. Knowing that two have to get on before the tying run is at the plate is a much bigger advantage than being up 1-0.

Yes, was a terrible call, but for once it was nice to see one not go the yankees way.

    Horrible call.

That being said I don't support instance replay. I can't stand it in football and baseball will screw it up even more. I remember in football it was only suppose to take 90 seconds...that obviously didn't work. I can live with bad calls...including a missed call at first base that cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game.

I'm all for instant replay in MLB. It can work and I think they will find a way to make it work. I was watching Mike and Mike and I think it was John SMoltz they had onair this morning and he put it quite well. Everyone in the World can see the replay except for the 6 guys on the field who are actually making the call.
