I've always wanted to compile a playlist of the different pieces of music Pearl Jam has used as their intro music, at shows.
I know they used a cool instrumental version of Baba O'Riley, in 2000. They use Philip Glass's Metamorphosis 2, now. And, I think they used Master/Slave in the old days.
Do you guys know any other songs they've used?

There was a very orchestral piece of music they used back in 92' certainly in Europe from time to time. I think you can hear it clearly on the Utrecht boot maybe? I think they should do a live Aye Davanita intro, it's a great little jam that could easily slip into Go or Last Exit....Like a book among the many on a shelf...

They used a drumming intro before the 1996 Toronto show. You can hear it and download it from gremmie.net.
It was pretty good but short.

Thanks for the info guys!
I very much appreciate it. Since I posted this thread, I've been looking around for their '00 intro song, Instrumental Baba O'Riley, and I'm really struggling.
It's weird. I was young when they did that tour, and I swear I had the exact mp3 cut that they used then, but I've since lost it.
Do any of you uber fans know where I might find this bad boy?0 -
In the early 2000's they also used Sigur Ros "untitled" a lot. It's off the album where all songs are "untitled" which is a great album, sorry i cant recall the number of the song they were actually taking the stage to. Worth checking out.Im not supersticious, Im just a littlesticious.0

One of my favourite bootlegs is a show in Berlin from 1996, where they use John F Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech as an intro tape, which I always thought was super cool.0

Anyone know what was used for the Aussie 2003 Shows?...Always sticks in my Mind that...:)0

In 2006 and 2007 they regularly changed the intro music between shows. I think one night I got the outro music for Inside Job like Digital Twilight mentions and then another night they came out to Master/Slave.2000: Manchester

I've always thought it would be pretty sweet if they came out with the Master/Slave intro for one show and then played Ten in order of the track listing. Make this a shorter than usual main set, then have two longer "encores" and play other songs.Bristow, VA - 5.13.10

thanks for posting link. it was also used in 1994 shows. you can hear it on the infamous atlanta '94 boot.
as a side note listening to the beginning of the brian eno song reminds me of the begining of Where The Streets Have No Name by U2. which Brian Eno produced..Post edited by broloco on0 -
also the 2nd Gorge '06 show opened with an extended, looping instrumental intro to Severed Hand (the first song of the set). pretty cool.
have they done this elsewhere?0
