How much did Oracle pay?

I wonder how much Oracle paid Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon? Had to be at least a million dollars each.

I remember when I was a kid , artists would sue a company for using their song in a commercial. It was against the Rock and Roll bylaws. I believe Neil Young was one of the founding fathers of that movement.
I hate when corporate America can make the best live band in the world their bitch. I already live everyday kissing the corporate worlds ass at work. I couldn't imagine if I was a multi millionaire, that I would continue to work and be a corporate slave.

I would definitely think Pearl Jam could of commanded a $500k to $750k pay day, maybe even more. However KoL was probably considerably less, something in the neighborhood of $100-$200k is my guess.

I think the bigger question is what's Oracle going to do with the professional shot video they captured of each bands performance that night?

  • Also how the hell is Oracle going to top having Pearl Jam and Kings of Leon as the house band at next years corporate function?

Are they going to bring 1969 beatles and the 1978 Led Zepplin? ...lol

I don't really think this was the case. I think the band most likely made the decision to fund their benefit for tester and be able to pay their crew for the trip to MT as well as fund other charitable things as Ed mentioned at the show in question. Although I am with you, it looks extremely lame to see PJ doing these sort of gigs when there's really no need. If they need the money then why couldn't they have just added another 1 night stand at Washington Grizzly Stadium in Missoula with a capacity of 25000 that would have paid for the whole benefit show.

Difference between us and PJ in reference to being corp bitch is they have options/choice, we don't. yeah we can quit but....

I don't understand the anger... It's just what PJ wants to do. I could only hope that they got paid more than they would have made from a regular show, because if they choose to do Oracle than a regular show, that'd be fucked up. The only criticism I had with the band is that they are making decisions like the corporate giants that they supposedly hate... They really don't practice what they preach anymore, but I really didn't like what they preached anyways.

I was in a limo with an executive for one of the sponsors after the show, he offered I and two other 10Cer's a lift in his private car.

He said $2 million. Supposedly, he worked on the pitch etc to get them on the line-up.

He was a also a douche bag and could have been telling a lie.

  • Don't know how much they got paid... But I believe this is actually a good thing for real PJ fans. I see nothing wrong with PJ doing a "private" corp show here and there for a nice FAT pay day. And in turn, that should help keep our costs down for regular scheduled PJ shows, 10C extras, mech, ect.. The music business is not what it use to be and PJ has every right to earn... So if some corp wants to throw a boat load of money to see "our" boys jam live for 90 minutes, more power too them. Anyway, this concludes my once a year post.....

  • I still don't understand why people think that PJ was against big companies. they were just against big companies that were irresponsible to the environment and social issues.

if he hated all big companies that would mean he hates capitalism, and therefore, the american dream, which he says he loves.

and he would hate himself, since he's 1/5 owner of a very rich company himself.
