Holy shit. Just got back from the Mike Watt show. :? Well, positive first - they were AMAZING. So sharp, so into it. And outrageously creative!! He opened the show with a 45 minute song (his entire latest CD apparently), and I don't think there was a single chorus. And no lyrics sheet Eddie. It was pretty incredible. He went so hard on that that he literally staggered off stage from exhaustion, and we weren't sure he'd be able to come back on (ans we were a bit worried about him). But they did come back, and went even harder! So great. So glad I got to see that very cool performance.
Now for the down side. That was the WORST FUCKING CROWD I have EVER seen. There were these disastrously drunk ho-bags right up front just going nuts in the most irritating way possible, and one of them kept falling over onto the STAGE, but there was NO security, and no one made her leave. She just kept staggering around and falling down into everyone. There were a few assholes who would suddenly charge up to the front, nearly knocking people over, and then people started fighting with them - one guy actually got kicked when he was on the floor (and probably deserved it). I had to push these drunks off of me several times, and they kept coming back for more. To make matters worse, the whole back half of the floor were just talking over the music the whole show, and others were screaming to shut the fuck up. Although at least the back was calm, even though they wouldn't shut up. It was just rude and annoying.
Luckily there was a small group of 10c members and we all kind of grouped together in front of one half of the stage and tried to circle the wagons I guess... unfortunately I was still sandwiched against those disgusting crazy drunk women. The vibe was nasty, and honestly it really sketched me out to the point that i felt scared walking back to my hotel just because of the mindset this crowd put me in. This may be an argument against BYOB shows!!! Especially when they are in a venue the size of a large living room!! :fp: :fp:
Met a few cool 10c members who made me feel a bit better being in this shit-ass crowd, along with one good local whose unfortunate job ended up being scraping that mess who couldn't stand off the floor over and over. Seemed to me that every degenerate asshole in Missoula showed up for this one. The 10c members did us all proud in this somewhat bad scene though, and were really respectful and trying to look out for one another!
And again, Mike Watt and his band mates KILLED IT! Glad I went for the experience... definitely one I will never forget, so I guess one for the books and an interesting way to end an amazing trip! Next trip I will be HEALTHY and not rendered quite so lame!

What an amazing time I am so glad STB and I finally decided to do this! Thanks to Drowned Out for unwittingly putting the idea in my head. The show was just amazing - such good energy and I finally got Indifference as a closer The highlight was getting to meet up with all of you - some for the first time - and you rock! You are all just as funny in person as you are on the board. I finally got to spend some time with people I had met briefly before other shows and at Alpine Valley and it was such a good time. And I finally met Norm!!! (the dog) Norm (the person) is just as cool, even if he did recommend the Masturbates Hotel :nono: The bedside reading was a bit..concerning...
The evidence on our duvet proves that much fun was had in our hotel room...unfortunately it all happened before we got there :? :nono: Happily I did get some action when I was fondled at the Spokane airport...and contrary to some of you naysayers, I did hold a leash on several occasions this weekend :nono: Thank you to RCKNDY for breaking the law to get us home safely - we owe you!
I really love this band and I love you guys and I can't wait to do this again!

So glad some folks were able to make it to this. Too bad about the crowd. Watt is coming to my area in a week so I'm gonna try to check him out.
To everyone else in Missoula...thanks so much for an awesome weekend. The members of 10c are such a great group and it's so much more fun now that these shows are alomst more like reuinions than concerts. Can't wait to see you all again.

I can't wait for another PJ trip either! Comebackgirl, it was great meeting you and Suzie.... I really wish I could have spent more time with you as well as some others, including 81, I'm a truck, kw, and nature lover - you guys are awesome. Glad you made me take the ceremonial sip of wine, I'm a truck.
That cold kicked my ass on Sunday though, and all I could manage was the actual show (which blew my mind). Was sorry to miss that day with you people. But despite my losing my voice (sorry you all had to listen to that grossness), Saturday was a fantastic day from start to finish (which ended at 3:30am with a gang of us staggering through the burger king drive-through on foot - thanks to the guy who bought me a whopper, whoever you are!). And Dissidentman, I can't take my GPS seriously anymore. You are hilarious. I hope you keep your sexy beard. And thank you to 81 and Snakeduck and Mrs. Snakeduck for the rides.
Cutz, you were a great ticket buddy - I hope your back feels better!

Yes, lots of goid times..no clown car pics have surfaced? I was being responsible (for once) making sure everybody go back to their hotel safely.
Thanks to everybody for the good times, and laughs. I didn't realize so many people wanted o meet me!
It was so great to meet everybody that I did, I'm so glad they made the trip. The show was so amazing, didn't get the rail, but thanks to my friends that got me at least 3 deep from it, I owe you!
Still in Montana, visiting family. I will post some pics ehen i get home.
I love you all!

As unofficial secretary, ill have the official minutes up shortly.
Great time in the Big Sky state... too bad most of it was driving time. We were still on the road headed into Missoula when PJ_Rocks informed us that some of you guys were shutting it down for the night (at the Pressbox). We were still an hour away from checking in and ready for a nap.
I would have loved to hang around with you on Saturday but the schedule just wouldnt allow it. I WAS able to share what kind of fans you are with three of our travelers who had the great experience of seeing PJ for their very first time! My son brought his girlfriend and I brought two great new friends that were all blown away with what a Pearl Jam show really does to you.
The three newbies were (as my daughter called it) hazed in... they stood outside in the merch line and got us squared away while we were able to use our M&G tickets to see the band up close. My son has idolized Mike since he was just a little whipper snapper, and I was so happy that Mike agreed to let us grab a quick picture with my two kids. The band members were more than accommodating. Even when we 'understood' there would be no autographs or pictures.
I was able to have breakfast with PJ_ROCKS, a beer with Imalive, and talked with some other Dodger fan and her hubby... took one on the chin last night Liz! Also got to finally meet Norm also, thanks again Liz!
I totally regret not going back and saying hello to STB and Comeback after PJ_ROCKS escorted you to the merch line... we were really still trying to figure out just what the hell we should do...
SO FUN!!! Loved meeting everyone AND seeing familiar faces too (PJ_Rocks! )
Thanks for the Cheetos 81!!!!! You rock!!!
I was on the floor squished with ImA Truck, 81 and The Rob but had to leave....hot, smooshed and could not see a damned thing. Went to the back and stood by Norm and had a really great time---I could actually SEE and move around! Was great drinking with everyone....Heisenberg, KW18, 81, Norm, PJ_Rocks, ImA Truck, Dissidentman, IMALIVE, RCKNDY, Unlost, Comebackgirl, Horos, BlackDiamond, AfroAnnie, STB etc., etc.. Sorry if I missed any names...I am sure I did.
Thanks to Lisa for arranging the steak dinner and to IMALIVE's wife for getting us there (even though we got a bit lost!!!! good times).
Hey Given to.... you have an extra T?
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
Btw everyone, I was talking to my cab driver on the way to the airport and he said that lots of people he'd spoken to about all the PJ fans in town said they wished we were around all year long because we are fun to deal with and friendly (while we spend all our money).

Finally made it home, spent an extra day buffalo watching and lounging. It was such a great show. I aint even pissed I stood in the merch line for an hour and a half only to be shut out of getting a poster. I flew Alaska over to MT. It was so awesome to have 3/4 of the plane going to the show. And If I met you in the Seattle airport in line to get on the Alaskan flight, nice to meet you all. Lets do this again real soon!

Anyone end up with some Cold Smoke? How about a scoop of Big Dipper ice cream? It sounds like the steak night was a success.
