Yesterday was so much fun...5 friends and I meeting in NYC to see this amazing show together-couldn't have asked for much more! Nice to be back in NYC for a happy occasion as opposed to a sad occasion--it was much needed! I couldn't stop thinking about this weekend since the minute the show was announced. This is a dream line up for me, other than K'Naan I really do love every single artist, especially the Foo Fighters! We got in line at the West gate just before noon and were in pretty good standing, easily within the first couple hundred people. Finally got into the Lawn close to 2:30, where we were angry to find out that East gate entrance got let in first, and got prime viewing location...but oh well. Ended up working out just fine, in the grand scheme of things we were still very close. The 6 of us were rail/2nd 'row'/3rd 'row' towards the left side of the stage, in the pen right behind the VIP area, which was great cuz it was a pretty good view and we didn't have to worry about being in the middle of a mass of people and absolutely not being able to see! Not a big hip hop fan, but K'Naan was cool. I can appreciate when artists rap about stuff of substance, like he did. Band of Horses were fantastic as usual, huge fan of theirs. Ben sounded particularly amazing, his voice was on point! Wish they did more than 4 or so songs, though! John Legend was a surprise guest and sang Imagine by John Lennon which was a beautiful rendition and very concert appropriate. Love his voice. The Black Keys absolutely killed it--that band amazes me! They played for about an hour and went through a lot of songs, more than I thought they were gonna do! Foos were next and I could not have been more excited to see them, they're one of my favorite bands. When they only played 9 or so songs in the end, I was pretty upset, but none of that mattered while they were playing. I was rocking out and having the absolute best time! Was cool to finally 'get' These Days, was never a huge fan of that song and when they played it last night, it hit me hard. Hopefully this 'hiatus' isn't too indefinite- when Dave said that my friends and I and the others around us were really shocked! Can't ask for much more than Neil to headline a festival, and seeing him with Crazy Horse was a treat! Also loved hearing Needle + The Damange Done, Fuckin' Up (when that started, I was like Whaaattt? Tonight? Really? OK, awesome!') and of course the all-star RITFW which my friends and I called before the show. Great night, great weekend, and I really don't want to go back to school after all this!

Was saying the same thing Newch..But I was livid when they cut into Neils performance to update about some bullshit fight at the BET awards  , that was such nonsense! I was watching the AXS channel though. As soon as I heard Fuckin Up I said to myself that it was gonna get edited, but Nope. That was very cool 8-)

I should have gone to this. Big mistake not to go see neil young for less than $150.
The man on old black is simply amazing.
  • That. Was. Awesome! So worth the 9 hour drive and 2 hour train ride to experience that!
