Considering this is the unnofficial industry standard shelving for vinyl, people here might know this...
You can buy doors for the cells but it looks like you loose about a quarter inch of clearance, can you still fit a record in a cell with a door insert?

I have not bought an Expedit (yet) but I do recall the dimensions being 13 x 13 which means you should have no problem fitting an LP in with losing a 1/4 inch. But it might be safer to ask someone who has actually tried.0

I have this for my records. Its up against a wall. It does take a pretty big space but It's great. I bought one of the little plastic containers that fit inside it for my 45's.
I think I am up to about 700ish 750 records and it's pretty full and I will be buying another one of these.0

Also its a nice large sturdy space on top where I put a lot of my vinyl box sets. Looks great.0

I went to the Sacramento Ikea store recently and was disappointed to find they no longer carry the thinner walled vinyl storage units that they used to carry. They now have these units seen here:

I thought they were too chunky looking but bought the four cell unit anyway for other storage but passed on the larger options for record storage because the walls are so thick- almost 2" on all outside walls. The cell height clearing above a record is about 7/8" (for a record not in a plastic or mylar outer sleeve.)
If you can find one, Bush Furniture used to make a shelving unit Model WC88516 that looks much better, is very sturdy and fits records quite well with above-record clearance of 1". If anyone knows where to get these, please let me know!
If you don't mind the thickness of the wall and the not-so-exciting color choices, the Expedit should work well."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

I just bought two Expedit units last weekend... one was specifically the 2 x 2 square for vinyl. I didn't purchase door inserts because the top of the insert looks more like it's 1/2" height (not a 1/4") and I keep all my vinyl in plastic sleeves that are 12 5/8" tall.
Also keep in mind that the unit is 15+" deep and doesn't have a back. I can't have it flush against the wall due to the baseboard around the room so the vinyl wasn't looking neat. I attached a back to it using a piece of black foam board and velcro dots from Staples so I can push the vinyl back and it all looks even and flush.0
