Ending of Wishlist

What always strikes me is that on the album version the volume is simply turned down when Eddie is still singing. It's not something common for a Pearl Jam song. Is there a full version available somewhere?

At the end it just says I wish it was a radio that you couldn't turn off, But I don't think that something else is said

It's ended in various different ways live. I like the ending 'I wish I wish, I wish I wish, I guess it nevers stops'

True, but because the volume is down at the precise moment... It doesn't sounds like an end of the song though.

The ending of the song always amused me, because even as you turn it up, it fades away. Very witty.

Sometimes I figure that bands really don't know how to end recorded songs. There's only a few way to end songs. A fade, a cold ending (very abrupt), mixing into the next track (think Pink Floyd), or a sustained/sting of a note.

If you're looking for a recorded version that doesn't fade out I know for a fact that Single Video Theory has a version akin to the album and you can hear very clearly, "I was I was a radio song, The one you couldn't turn off."

I also believe if you go to Gremmie.net you can get an audio copy. It's my favorite ending to that song.

If you want a live version with that ending check out Virginia Beach 2000.

    Enjoy is sweet

Mansfield '03 was the greatest and most butchered version I've ever seen in my PJ concert career. Eddie got lost in the song, asked the audience for forgiveness, and then ripped into the Buzzcocks "Why Can't I Touch It". It absolutely leveled the crowd and turned into a big sing-a-long. All the while the mirrorball was spinning lights through the crowd. Amazing. I'll never forget it.
I love to turn you on

I love the Buffalo 2003 version of the end of Wishlist. At the end Eddie sings:
"I wish that I was a disease, a disease called love and peace
and I wish that I could spread, to every person in the land
and I know that eventually, and I hope that eventually
and I feel, I feel, feel; that it wont happen without you and me
it'll take you and me, it'll take you and me
and more than me, it'll take you
and more than me, it starts with two
and then becomes ten; and then becomes ten thousand
and then becomes ten million; and then becomes ... the truth
the truth, the future, and the truth
send home those troops, come on troops
    seek more troops"
    2013 : London, Buffalo

  • Lately, I've been loving the live Wishlist tags. Two performances jump out at me: Borgata 2 2005 and Cincinnati 2006.

Does anyone else have any beautiful versions to share?
