Yeah, I'm not for anyone carrying guns around on them.
But it was funny to see!!!
Now, for you gun supporters, I would like to point out, the criminal ran they hell out of there when confronted with a gun, right? I'm sure you think that shows why it's great that people have guns. The flip side, it shows that while the criminals had a gun, they had no real intention to use it. So there wouldn't have been any bullets flying or chance for loss of life had the old dude not been packin'. Is it really worth the risk of instigating a gun fight?hippiemom = goodness0 -

I dunno, I'd rather not rely for my safety on invisible policemen and the hope that criminals won't shoot.dimitris wrote:71 old man inst the solution to solve situation like this..
that why need trained men for this job and thats why police officers are retired at that age,cos cant do the job...

at least it wassn't a one sided gun fight..if the bad guy's were the only ones with a gun then everybody in that store would have been at the mercy of them and that's not a good thing not to mention the one bad guy had bat he was swinging around and I boubt he was on his way to a company softball game.

you mean the same thing you do when something happens and there is no gun-toting hero around? what's good for the goose, GF.Gimli 1993

Dear GF, I think the reason we all say "what if" is because the "what ifs" are usually happening.
What if the old man pulled out the gun but was a lousy shot?
What if the patrons got shot.
What if the old man's wife who was dumfounded and couldn't move out the way was in HIS way.
What if it happens in your corner pizzeria while your kids are running round the place?
What if it happens in my front yard?
WHAT IF is a legitimate question.
That question...WHAT IF...is what keeps us out of trouble to begin with.
I am not arguing about gun control. My opinion won't change, and my opinion certainly won't change your opinion.
But saying that "what if" is not a part of this discussion is just not fair.
Respectfully disagreeing, as usual
EDIT..oh yeah..and "what if" is the reasoning behind both sides of the Gun Control issue isn't it?Post edited by StillHere onpeace,

I agree on the what ifs thing - life is (or I should say, can be) all about what ifs and of course they apply to this situation as well.StillHere wrote:But saying that "what if" is not a part of this discussion is just not fair.

What if my sister had left for home a few minutes earlier or later than she did...would the car accident she was in not have happened?
What if I'd bought a megamillions ticket at the 7-11 instead of Ralphs, and won?
What if my dad had stayed in Germany in the 30s; would I not be here now?
Life's a crapshoot of what ifs, and sometimes pondering them can make one go fucking nuts
Anyway, I was impressed with the old dude's reflexes, and aim.0 -

Fighting back ... no running scared anymore.
Police unfortunately are cleaning up crime scenes not preventing them.
They are solving crimes after the fact, the rape, the child abduction, the robbery,
the murder, the home invasion.
Like the little ten year old girl taught to fight. We have had many of those here in Atl recently,
the children taught to be aware, group together, fight.
Yes risk but also save their own lives and perhaps save another by helping
to catch the abuser.
And my thought also, too bad a quick thinking licensed to carry individual was not there
early this morning to at least attempt to stop the mass murderer.
This is not yesterday this is today, we must protect ourselves, our children and our property.
This is empowerment and is the only thing that will work against those stripping of us
of our own personal rights and freedoms, the most basic, the right to live.0 -

Godfather.
The guy was wearing a bulletproof vest in a packed theater after releasing tear gas. Makes for a tough shot for someone trying to stop him.
Maybe we make sure guns aren't getting into the hands of crazies. It'll be interesting to learn more about this guy. This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0 -

You can try and prevent guns from getting into the hands of crazies but then the end product is that the crazies will be the only ones who have the guns.0 -

head shot, keeping guns out of the hands of crazys is tuff because seemingly normal people sometimes just crack, this task of keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys would be a challenge because we don't want to punish the rightous gun owners for the actions of wackos I think tougher punishment for crimes commited with a gun/weapon would help but not eliminate the problem..again the wackos and people that just crack.
