Ted the movie

Alright, I finally saw it today. I was a bit disappointed. For those who have never seen Family Guy, it'll probably seem really funny. However, to me it felt like one long Family Guy episode. Same taboo jokes, cut-aways, etc. Plus I really don't like Mark Wahlberg in a comedic role. I didn't like him in The Other Guys but figured the jokes would be better with Ted. Not really. I think MacFarlane should have played Wahlberg's character.
I love Seth MacFarlane and although I expected his "trademark humor," I was hoping he'd branch out a bit from his Family Guy comfort zone. I can only hope Ted was just a foot in the directorial door and the next movie he makes will be better, more diverse.
With that said, I did laugh at parts. The trailer is pretty much what you get as far as the good parts of the movie. The hardest I laughed was when Giovanni Ribisi is dancing to "I Think We're Alone Now." For some reason, that scene set me off on a laughing fit. Just the way he was dancing...almost like Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs
Sooooooooooooo, that's what I thought. My advice: wait for the dvd. The bonus features will probably make it more worth it. Or download it, if you don't want to wait. I wouldn't recommend spending the $12-$15 on a movie ticket. MacFarlane is the highest paid writer in television history...he won't miss our money :P"Now YOU listen. One of the funniest fucking movies in recent (and not so recent) memory. I laughed from start to finish, except during the "dramatic" parts.Gimli 1993

I thought it was ok, but they should have just stuck with the humor and not tried so hard with the storyline. That killed it for me. It's ok to just focus on funny without a love story and drama thrown in.

I thought it was pretty hilarious. Don't go in with expectations, that's all.
Family Guy humor for sure, but I find that shit hilarious.0 -

I like Family Guy, but I never watch it, so I think for hardcore FG fans this would have been a lot of the same. I was going in pretty close to being a Seth McFarlane virgin, so to me this was over the top awesome.Gimli 1993

wait, people actually went to see a seth macfarlane film, not expecting a seth macfarlane film? :?
the guy has one style and one style only and probably has about $621 million in his pocket because of it. it is his bread and butter, why would you go into ted expecting something other than the crude, offensive, vulgar humor that you see in family guy?
hands down the funniest movie i have seen in quite sometime. sure (spoiler), the bear napping scene dragged at points, but overall, i think the length of the movie was appropriate and i probably wouldn't have cut anything.
the "love" story didn't diminish. there had to be SOME story other than a bear and a 35 year old ripping bong hits for an hour and forty minutes, right? :?0 -

I liked Ted, I didn't love it. Maybe it's one of those that I have to watch a couple of times. I didn't like Anchorman when I first saw it, and now it's one of my favorite movies. I do think it was better than The Hangover :P"Now YOU listen. When we are on this ship, you are to refer to me as 'Idiot' not 'You Captain'!"0 -
