In dreams

In dreams, the physical restrictions don't always apply
as if our wishes mattered,
space isn't cold and silent or empty
the sky can be ridden like a horse or a dove
in rooms, doors appear and then fade back into the molding for quick exits!
In dreams, time restrictions don't mean much usually
as if our wishes mattered,
the best days can last nearly forever
and the sweetest fruit never rots or runs out
and the most delicious meal lasts as long as we like
(but of course we don't gain weight!)
In dreams, anything is possible
inside, there's a machine with wheels that turn smoothly if we allow them the room to roll
and keep them lubricated and clean
plants can grow at lightning speed
puppies don't age!
and jobs are fun and pay well!
in the best dreams, given to us by these fabulous machines
people do the most they can rather than the least
and they enjoy their days and nights
friends long missed come back to play, talk, and smile
good love can last forever when we want it to stay
and the surprises are good unless we want the excitement of an upset
As if wishes mattered in dreams, colors are brighter
patterns more varied, evolving to delight,
and leaves can appear overnight!
as long as we keep that precious machine clean and tended
everyday can be a joy in dreams
(just as if our wishes truly mattered)

    I suppose we're looking at this with different attitudes. :geek:

    I wasn't thinking of dreams that only appear when we're asleep. I was thinking of the whole mechanism of imagination.

    Day dreams are great (although I have a tendency of being able to imagine the worst possible scenario even in my daydreams), life dreams and aspirations are even better, but night time dreaming is really hit and miss. I've had a lifetime of nightmares, so dreaming is not necessarily something I look forward too.

    Try guiding your daydreams to what you actually wish for instead of letting them gallop off in a negative direction. My refrain about "as if our wishes mattered" was a quiet way of saying that we can make our wishes matter in these dreams. :)

    justam, I enjoyed the caca out of this.
    On second read, I think I misread the first underlined part.
    I first thought you meant that an actual room could roll around.
    That sounds like it would be fun, woo hoo!

    (In the old Funhouse by Ocean Beach in San Francisco, they HAD a room that twisted and rolled. It was supposed to simulate an earthquake I think. I went there once when I was really small, right before the park closed forever!)

    I went to a funhouse like that when I was a kid! At Knotts, I think. Haven't thought about that in years.

    Yeah, I'm a big fan of imagination, of letting the mind roll and wander and traipse around freely - a trip and therapeutic when awake/aware, even moreso when slumbering. Sometimes the trips aren't so fun - dark places and thoughts - but that just comes with the territory, I think.

    ...an aside to wishes and dreaming - a couple of days ago, a specific memory about my dad came to mind...a sweet one. That night/early morning, in one of those just-before-awaking, so-vivid-it-can't-be-a-dream dreams, he was there, young (for him), healthy, and we hugged for a good long time.

    I woke up actually feeling as if I'd been with him, and it was wonderful :)
