Wait...Montana doesn't serve beer in a can? What the hell is DS gonna drink? They don't put that Mich Ultra shit in glass do they?0 -
Montana is so bad ass you will all be so thankful you made the trip. We got it all, but make sure you look for dive bars. Don't waste your time in all the chains of america establishments like hooters, Dave BBQ etc... You can get that anywhere. We have several microbreweries and some of the best shitkicker bars in the world. Your loa used to be on the edge of town but now the town built its retails box store boulevard around it so make sure you venture away from there. That is not Missoula. That is the generic America shopping box store block. You want downtown Missoula. You koa'ers will be on reserve street. Which is fine but make sure to spend your days away from there because all of the good stuff is along the river and in the downtown area.8-28-92 Harriet Island

These guys can:
http://kettlehouse.com/
And their beer is delicious. I can't say enough good things about Cold Smoke Scotch Ale. Beer guys headed to Missoula, take note.
These guys also can:

These guys, sadly, only do bottles (although they just started a flagship bottle-recycling program):
http://www.bayernbrewery.com/
I would be happy to answer any other western-Montana-beer-related questions....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -

I'm headed to Kettle House right after I land. Which location do you recommend and do they serve food as well? This show, another show, a show here and a show there.0 -
just wanted to share....according to my research if you are looking for a hotel one of the best options might be the holiday inn downtown. It has a free airport shuttle and is within walking distance to the Adams Center. Rooms appear to be ~146/nt online as the best price (like 157 with taxes)..I called the front desk and was told 159 is their best rate (not sure if that was with or without tax) and AAA would get you 5 bucks off.
I was able to get a room there on priceline for 105 (120 including fees) which is still a lot but I think its a decent deal for a what should be a really convenient option. I was denied at a bid for 95 and went to 105..so you might be able to save 5 more bucks and bid 100.0 -

Most folks these days go to the (new) north-side location. I prefer the old location off the Hip Strip, but that's probably because I used to live three blocks from there ("stumbling distance"). They operate under micro-brewer license, which means they are limited on how many drinks you can have while you are there, and they don't have food.
If you are looking for an all-around good brew and food place, I recommend these guys:
http://www.tamarackbrewing.com/
The brewery is in Lakeside, MT, which is about 1.5 hrs north of Missoula, but they have a bar/restaurant right in downtown Missoula: 231 West Front Street, Missoula, MT. They serve some of the local brews, plus their own (also very tasty, with lots of seasonal rotation). The food is pretty good, I love their fries.
Also worth a stop for foodies in Missoula:

But don't take my word for it:

my ticket is secured..., no worries for me.
but the rest of you, you best let PJ soul get hers. :xWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

Thanks for all the info, I always take it upon myself to try local brews wherever I go. We should all meet up somewhere to grab a brew or three.
