It's no secret that you might even get pissed on in a nyc crowd of that magnitude.

I have a free stay in a NYC apartment and I might still pass on a show like this. I agree with mayday. Too many people in crappy new york. I would think about going to a warmup show though if it was a small place(Roseland or something).

we'll talk about this free stay next Tuesday after golf.... :)

I'm just saying that I don't want to be fighting for a spot amidst 100's of thousands of people IF this were even happening. Roseland or a smilar venue would be easy in, easy out. It's no secret that you might even get pissed on in a nyc crowd of that magnitude.

WTF ? What's with the NYC prejudice? I never pissed while in a crowd in my life and I have been to hundreds, ok not hundreds, maybe dozens....of shows in NYC. Do you think people are different in say.... Dallas? Relax with the anti-NYC people shit.

This would be a lot different than a show at MSG with 30,000 people indoors. Have you been in nyc for New Year's or other huge outdoor events? It can be messy.

NYC prejudice or NYC jealousy? Lets face it, NYC is better than any other city in the US so of course we will be bad mouthed.

My optimism for this show to happen is really high. I just saw the show today on PJ Radio is going to be Melbourne, March 17, 1995, a show where Dave Grohl played drums on "Rockin' In the Free World". A clue?

Large cities, especially on the Eastern seaboard have a built in survival of the fittest/competitive/individualistic/entitled attitude. You throw a concert with my favorite band, possibly free, in a giant city park with an even more popular band... it is going to attract a lot of shit-heads. Im not saying everyone is like this, or any particular cities 'suck'... Its just the allure of a free rock concert with 2 legendary acts in this case would make it not enjoyable to me. It isnt going to be PJ-like.
I would probably end up about 80,000 people back, cant hear or see anything, and still being pushed around as people jockey for a few feet closer.

I would be way more pumped to have the opportunity to pay for an MSG show... or if these bands somehow sold out Citi Field or something.

i don't think it will be that bad. bonnaroo was 80K and it was pretty relaxed in our area of the venue. we were up around the sound board and worked our way down as teh show went on. no real pushing or shoving, lots of space between people.

up front i'm sure will be alot worse.

Agreed. I always think back to when Green Day played a free show on the Esplanade in Boston back in 1994 right after they broke. It was chaos in the streets that night.

Seriously, PJ might play new york for free and people are complaining? You guys need to get a grip. Why is everyone so against this? At Lolla 07 I was 5 people from the front and I didnt have to wait all day. I just watched all of MMJ's set and then waited for the greatest band on earth. You guys are lame. I hope you don't come.

For the record NYC IS one of the greatest cities in the world. You can argue all you want that its not, but it is. Heres a fact. NYC is the most diverse city in the world culturally. Tell me where else in the world I can get indian-chinese food, korean bbq and then world class italian all within 5 miles. Theres more culture here than most places in the world. Settle down haters.

You put 100,000 people in one place anywhere, and there are going to be a lot of a**holes and you could get pissed on . :? Doesn't need to be NYC.

Not defending NYC. Like I alluded to, the less the merrier. Stay out. We suck!!!!

Green Day in 1994 are more like Pearl Jam in 1993.

Pearl Jam in 2012 are not gong to draw the crowd numbers or demographic that they would have in 1993 or to go back to your example that Green Day would have had in 1994.

Yeah, it is much more a crowd size thing than it is a New York thing.

Yeah, Toronto is an amazing city.... But the diversity is weird as it isnt as old and established as NYC.... But it has a fresh, exciting feel to it.
