pjhawks wrote:if this show happens i doubt it would be a free show. it will be for some sort of charity. didn't someone else mention before that the past few shows in Central Park were for the Robin Hood Foundation? and PJ has done things for them before? best guess is some sort of donation with a limit of maybe 50-75k in attendance. and i agree with those that a free show will bring out a whole bunch of idiots i'd have no interest in being around.
The people in the front would probably have to pay and the rest would need a pass. When Dave Matthews did it I don't remember if you had to pay. But you still needed a pass to get in. They were handing them out on the streets.I miss igotid880 -

Hypothetically speaking (theme of this thread), if they announced two shows at Alpine Labor Day with just PJ and one show in Central Park with the Foo's, and you could only choose one, which would it be?
I would probably go to Central Park just because it would be special but it would be hard to pass up two nights of just PJ.Bham 9/3/98

I have a free stay in a NYC apartment and I might still pass on a show like this. I agree with mayday. Too many people in crappy new york. I would think about going to a warmup show though if it was a small place(Roseland or something).0

Crappy New York? Wow.... there is nothing crappy about NY, it just ain't for everybody. I happen to love everything about NYC.
Back on topic....
They have donated to the Central Park Conservancy before. So... who knows?

:shh: Don't let folks like this in on our secret. It makes it a better place. (Derek Jeter and other neighbors of the Parkand  and nodding).
(and kind of funny that he's willing to go to Roseland, but not the Upper West Side.)
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

I'm just saying that I don't want to be fighting for a spot amidst 100's of thousands of people IF this were even happening. Roseland or a smilar venue would be easy in, easy out. It's no secret that you might even get pissed on in a nyc crowd of that magnitude.0 -
NYC has a strict no sex with your sister policy
..... I can see how this would be a problem for some0 -

WTF ? What's with the NYC prejudice? I never pissed while in a crowd in my life and I have been to hundreds, ok not hundreds, maybe dozens....of shows in NYC. Do you think people are different in say.... Dallas? Relax with the anti-NYC people shit.~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~0 -

This would be a lot different than a show at MSG with 30,000 people indoors. Have you been in nyc for New Year's or other huge outdoor events? It can be messy.0 -
