I kinda hope it's not free as I like some semblance of organization with concerts believe it or not; maybe I'm just getting old or something?0 -

i actually work with a guy who has a good friend who works central park shows and would know this type of info...
i will get him on the case tomorrow and hopefully in a few months i will get on his little cart and driven to the front of the stagei post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......0 -
hmmmmm...a one-off PJ/Foos show, POSSIBLY for free in Central Park, NYC in the fall. I think my decision has been made for me!0
-
Selfishly, I would prefer it not to be free, I think it changes the dynamic of the people who will be there.
But of course I will still find a way to be there if it happens!0 -
I really hope this is true-the Foos are another band that I really enjoy, so the chance to see them with my favorite band would be a dream come true!!!"A beacon on dry land"0

Very good point!...didn't look at it like that! Its IS NYC afterall...once again SuMay brings the voice of reason.
Too bad it's not up to me! I saw Lenny Kravitz at a free concert, I was standing behind two girls that were maybe 14, and they were just texting/tweeting/facebooking the whole time. And when they weren't doing, that, they were screeching, OMIGOD, THIS IS SO COOL. If that happened at a PJ show, I cannot be held responsible for my actions
Like I said, I'd still go, but I would need to set my expectationsPJ and Foo Fighters would obviously still kill it.

Sept 29th? Are you kidding me? The anniversary of my first pearl jam show which is also one of their greatest shows ever! I will definitely be there. This will be epic.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

The 29th???
Eek. I have NYPhil tickets for the 27th (opening night!) and the 29th (Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, not that any of you care; my son loves Russian composers). Oh, my. If this happens, I'll need to reschedule the NYPhil for another night and give serious thought to getting a hotel room in the city for a few days. Tunnel tolls are cheaper, but traffic is such a hassle that the hotel might be worth it. :?All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -

If it happens I'm there but you are definitely right. PJ/Foos free concert on the Great Lawn? We're talking about a million people showing up for that. With high security in NYC I just can't see the city allowing it. If it was at Summerstage maybe but I just can't imagine a free concert on the great lawn. I saw Paul Simon there in '90 and 750,000 people showed up.0 -
Hmm what about a free show...BUT...just open to 10c members and Foo fan club members? Throw in some radio contest winners and lottery-drawing winners. Wouldn't be total chaos then "Now YOU listen. When we are on this ship, you are to refer to me as 'Idiot' not 'You Captain'!"0

I just asked and they don't know if it's a frees how or not. My bad, I thought that's what one of them said. Maybe a charity type thing. same here. A Pearl Jam show less than 2 hours long doesn't seem right. He who forgets will be destined to remember.

i'd rather pay than have the typical festie crowd show up at "our" show.
a 10C show would be awesome
not to be negative but i just have a little trouble believing foos and pj on one bill?
and this time, when Eddie says
"we're gonna be just like the Grateful Dead"
he will have two reasons to say it loud and proud!Post edited by StillHere onpeace,

Based on what I've heard, a 9/29 date in Central Park wouldn't be feasible for PJ from a logistical standpoint. To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."
