Man..so sad. I did "3 MC's and One DJ" at my senior show with my two best friends.. This man will be missed, RIP to a legend. The only good we can take from this is at least now, his pain has subsided. RIP MCA, you will always be remembered by so many.

    R.I.P. Adam

That is such sad news  , and how tragic for his daughter and family.

I was completely obsessed with the beastie boys when I was a teenager...I was fortunate enough to see them in concert (I think it was 1999) and they were great.

    Great quote!
It not only feels like the loss of an incredible musician and hell of a great guy...but it also feels like I lost a little bit of my youth as well.

I'm so fuckin broken up about it. I too was lucky enough to have seen them live a bunch of times. And of course, not only that, as with music, he and the Boys were always such a fun part of my life. I am definitely a true fan and have loved their music for such a long time. Ad Rock was the wild man, crazy, funster, Mike D was the musical genius, quirky, high-pitched front man, and MCA was always the sticky glue, bass voice and lines, downright pro of them all. He was one bad-ass mother fucker. I was just listening to Hot Sauce a few days ago and kept rewinding his parts in two of its songs, Nonstop Disco and Too Many Rappers. I was saying too myself, how fuckin awesome are these licks from MCA. I too thought he was beating it. I feel so horrible for Adam H and MIke. Like REM, it just really hurts to contemplate not being able to share a night live with them ever again. I've listened some today after the news and just can't get over it. It's so tough to hear them name call him out and put the thought that he's gone with it. (I gotta say that it was nice to see this thread and it did make me feel better hearing from all of you PJ friends.)

During the RHCP show in Newark tonight, he was clearly on their minds, he was mentioned and honoured multiple times. When they were setting up the stage, the background music was all Beastie Boys. And after the concert ended, they blasted Fight For Your Right. It was very sweet/sad/fitting all at the same time.

    MTV Awards, 1994.

I'd never seen anyone play bass like that (LIKE A MUTHAFUCKIN' BOSS!) before I saw this performance when it aired on Much Music.
My twelve year old mind = blown.

    R.I.P. Adam Yauch/MCA
    Thank you.

Way way way too soon. Such a huge loss, he seemed like the coolest guy ever and obviously a musical genius. F**k cancer.

saw Social D last night and they intro'd and exited to 'no sleep till brooklyn'. i got chills both times and think of the massive respect he and the beasties have earned over the years, taking chances, being utterly original, experimental, and just creating damn good music.

so many of the posts here are similar to my history-hs grad 1987 listening to license to ill non-stop, seeing them play w/aerosmith or at lollapalooza...RIP ADAM

    RIP!! :(

They had some of the best videos ever.

Wonder if what Mike D and Ad Rock are gonna do? You can't really replace him, IMO. Are they gonna do solo albums?
