This is just like a kick to the gut. Celebrity deaths usually don't impact me too much, but this is at the top with Tim Russert. So sad.

I truly thought he was in remission and in good shape. Cancer is just awful.

My 3 1/2 year old son is going to get introduced to the Boys tonight.

Sad news. I've never been the biggest rap fan, but The Beastie Boys were such a fun, talented group. I was really bummed when they had to back out of ACL 2009 - they were supposed to headline alongside DMB and Pearl Jam but were replaced by Kings of Leon because of Adam's cancer. I was really looking forward to seeing them. What a shame for his family and friends. 47 seems far too young to go.

I'm really not a rap fan either. If you look at the rap genre on my iPod it's basically Beastie Boys.

    Too sad...

I'm wicked bummed out right now. I grew up on the Beastie Boys. Man, my day just took a turn for the worse.

RIP Adam. You may be gone, but your music and legacy lives forever.
He who forgets will be destined to remember.

This is a really big bummer. Very few artists can really say that they paved the way for so many people to follow, and he is one of them.

    RIP MCA.

So sad. The Beasties were a huge part of my life when i was growing up, i was lucky enough to see them in Glasgow in '99 and i'll never forget it. I'm actually watching 'Awesome i fuckin shot that' as i type.

Hopefully people will take a minute to find out what the guy was all about and that can be part of his legacy as well as the amazing music he was part of.

    RIP MCA you'll be missed
    Hail Hail
