What's a sealed original Vitalogy LP worth?

Someone just gave my wife one for her birthday. We'd never part with it, but we're curious as to what they're going for. Thanks :D

I would make a rough guess of $70 to $150?

I have no clue, but others from that era (Vs through No Code) seem to be similar.

The most I've seen are around $1,000 for sealed Bennys, sealed white backspacers, etc.
(Ok, look one post down. $2,000 for sealed Benny)

I saw ONE white/black backspacer. I think it was white with black specks. That was also around $1,000.

Sealed Bennys are around $1500-$2000 (CRAZY)

Opened are $1000 .... the prices have soared recently..not really sure why :?:

I regularly see used Vitalogys for $30. I think the whole sealed record thing is overrated for various reasons but I know a lot of people care about that sort of thing.

Obviously, a sealed *is* worth more, as it's the only way to 100% guarantee that it's never been played, but some of these prices are insane.

$500 to $1000 more, as is the case with some of the Benny's? Insane.

The other thing I don't get is the number...why the hell is 1/1000 worth more than 999/1000? The world may never know... then, there's people like me who have a hand-numbered 7" from Europe of something like 2512/2000.... go figure on THAT one. (I forget the exact number, but I have one of them!)

To you, it may well be worth a million bucks.
To others, it may be worth nothing.

But an opened copy is the only way to know it isn't warped or damaged, but that would mean you actually will listen to it and not just look at the cover. It really depends on what you want the record for a lot of people would rather know that the record was taken care of properly then whether it is sealed or not.

I saw one on the bay going for 40 bucks, sealed, and the guy shipped overseas... a selead one may go for over 100... Ten, Vs, No Code and Yield are considered the best ones, so first pressings of those are high, the others, Binaural, Riot Act and Avocado are as high, but because they are fewer, and even though they are not numbered, they are in limited quantities...

There have been plenty of unsold 1st presses that are sealed not sell for $40 so I'd say right now that the market value is under $40.

Look for first or orignal pressing here and you'll find out exactly what it is worth and it is nowhere near what people are saying in this thread so far, looks like $36

I sold mine (bought before the Vitalogy CD came out), sealed with the sticker, last year a little before the deluxe rerelease came out. I knew I'd be buying the super deluxe box set with the "new" Vitalogy vinyl. So I got rid of my 1994 vinyl copy. $80 at that time. Probably less now cause the reissue is out and it's easier to find a "new" Vitalogy vinyl from 2011 for $25 or whatever.

I got sealed originals of Vitalogy and No Code for one price on eBay for $300. I know that's not overly helpful, but since sealed No Codes go for $150 - $225 or so, it might tell you something (basically that the guy who said $75 - $150 was on the right track... in the past). HOWEVER... as was being discussed on another thread, now that there is a reissue of Vitalogy, the value of the first pressings have gone down recently. I expect that to happen to all originals as the reissues come out (I am expecting all of their albums to be reissued... anyone think that's a dumb assumption?).
