I have never seen The Fans Are Alright, and its killing me
    I know, pathetic.

Can anyone provide a brief summary of the fans disc and the other one (exteded cut version?).

It's been a while since I've seen them but:

Disc 2 (The Kids are Twenty) includes full performances of the performances that were featuerd in the PJ20 film. It also has a live version of Of the Earth at the end.

Disc 3 (The Fans are Alright) features Present Tense and Black from Brazil, some guy giving statistics about what songs Pearl Jam has played live (with video snippets of a few songs live), and cameron crowe reading a letter from a fan to eddie with hard to imagine live footage inserted in.

If they do re-release this I may be in for it this round. I chose not to buy myself something right at the holidays when it originally hit the good section. Bad timing, I thought. Though selling out proved not to be the case, I suppose.

Just do us all a favor and don't release it during the holidays again.

I'm cautiously optimistic, more than I was previously.

PJ20 Disc 1: contains the movie, plus extras, boom in church, eddie I forgot, stone I forgot, mike about composing given to fly and matt about composing the fixer, plus a girl who complaints that eddie broke all the mics, no more mics for the rest of the tour, and 2 easter eggs, mike on potato head, jeff about a party and clothing

PJ20 Disc 2: contains all the songs performed during the movie, the complete footage, for instance, in nothing as it seems you will see the proof of why mike is god, you will watch and listen all the booing during bushleaguer and all ed says after the song is over, you will see the actual performance of walk with me with neil, the footage for just breathe in SNL, a live performance of gonna see my friends, I don't remember where it is acctually, between walk with me and just breath I think, and finally off the earth, there are some short interviews in between as well, rare footage, being my favourite hidden track, I don't remeber what the extras are about, either on disc1 or disc 2 you can find come back, no easter egg on this disc.

PJ20 Disc 3: contains live performances of present tense from brazil and black from buenos aires in 2005, a statistical analysis of PJ songs, how many times they were played, and so on, it's interesting, but the guy is a douch, no matter how good is his MA Degree, he's still a douch, there is something about the last gig of Ten tour Hawaii, I got dissapointed because I thought it was the full show, you can listen to bee girl, and since it was a radio performance the screen is completely black when you listen to it, and I don't remember anything else, there's something about a letter being read to eddie by cameron crowe, and ed talks about his notebooks and suitcases containing his notebooks, and a platic turntable they got in some city, but the one thing that worths having this 3 Disc set, either on BR or DVD, is a live performance of Hunger Strike, during Lollapalooza 92, I don't remember what city it is, and it is a performance with only Ed and Chris, both with electric guitars, on an alternative stage, while another band is playing somewhere else, completely out of the blue, and that stage area is almost empty when they got on the stage, but when the first chords are played, you can see hundreds of people running towards the stage.

Thank you kindly for your persistence, Mr. LostTurntable.

I sorta wonder if the 10C has red-flagged my file, given my eleventy billion posts in the petition thread. "Tends to be a whiny douchebitch canuck, but thus far has remained within posting guidelines and club rules. On thin ice, but with a toonie buried underneath."

Let's see how it all plays out, eh? :corn: 8-)
  • I haven't posted about this whole debacle in a few months after feeling so beat-down from compiling the petition list and seeing no progress being made. But I had to chime in now since we seem to be a small step closer to our goal. I'm pretty much over the disappointment of missing out on it in the first place but I'd still definitely get a copy if they become available again. As myself and countless others have pointed out throughout the various threads, if they produced them again in different packaging to differentiate it from the original Limited Edition, then I can't see why anyone would be mad with a rerelease. Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes up yet but let's just hope for the best

That bit was terrible, if I ever watch disc 3 again I'd definitely skip by the stats guys. He didn't even have his facts right!

People are still watching this movie? I never made it through once........

Please tell me that you're either insane or busting chops. Great movie. I just re-watched the Roskilde/Vegas scenes again last night.

Disc 3 is nothing to write home about. If you already have disc 2 from the iTunes download, you're set. It'll probably be a long time before I watch disc 3 again.

Yeah and the quality on some of the disc 3 performances (the ones from south america) were subpar in my opinion. On one of the songs you couldn't even really make out stone's face because it was so blurry. I still think it's cool to have and every fan should see the disc at least once, so I hope the re-release happens!

Read the tweet. Nice to see you're as pleasant to people on Twitter as you are on here. If he replied to that, do you think he equated "real PJ20" with "3 disc SE sold through Ten Club?"

I mean, is this third disc really, REALLY great?

I'm pretty sure if you wanted it and didn't want to 'pay' for it, there are ways of getting it.

    It.
The people petitioning for the re-release are fans who don't want to use illegal means to get it; they want to acquire it honestly through 10C (there was a conversation about this some time ago). :)

I believe that disc 3 has footage made by fans, but I might be wrong...

It is mostly some guy talking about statistics (using transparencies instead of a laptop) intercut with a little bit of live footage and some interviews with fans. Once you've seen it once it's not anything you need to see again and you're not missing anything if you don't see it.

That segment s posted on YouTube. Yeah, it's not great. But it's not long either. There is more than just that on disc 3.
