I was reading the Documentaries thread, and someone suggested Funky Monks. So I watched it, and rediscovered how great RHCP are and what an unreal album Blood Sugar Sex Magik is. Loved the percussion scene from Breaking the Girl.
Anyway this band has so many great tunes, just curious to some favorites you all might have?
They have a big catalog and its always cool to see what others might recommend.
I just recently heard Venice Queen for the first time and I'm loving it!
A few of my favs:
Under the Bridge (pretty hard to top this one for me, one of my favs from any band)
Sikamikanico

Haha. I love Funky Monks and have a tradition of watching it on the eve of any new Chili Peppers album release (Done it for By the Way, Stadium Arcadium, and I'm With You) or around times that I've seen them live (8x).
Some of my favorites are Me & My Friends, Sir Psycho Sexy, Suck My Kiss, Around the World, Can't Stop, Venice Queen, Charlie, Wet Sand, Readymade, and of course Give It Away and Under the Bridge. Really liking Brendan's Death Song and Factory of Faith on the new album.0 -
For sure BSSM, that album came out in my teens.. (90's rule) I like all their stuff but "By The Way" is a great album from start to finish...., The Zephyr Song is a top favorite for sure...1998 Dallas (7/5) 2006 San Fran (7/15,7/16) 2009 San Fran (8/28) 2010 Bristow (5/13) NY (5/21) 2011 Alpine Valley (9/3,9/4)

RHCP was my favorite band until Pearl Jam came into my life. :? I've never really been a fan of their stuff before Mother's Milk but its still better than most music out there. Some of my favorite songs are:
I'm With You
Look Around
Stadium Arcadium
She looks to me
Slow Cheetah
Wet Sand
By the Way
This is the place
Don't forget me
Midnight
Californication
This velvet glove
BSSM
Suck my kissSometimes you find yourself

The Chili Peppers are my second favorite band behind Pearl Jam. I always say PJ and RHCP are opposites when it comes to how they got their success.
PJ were biggest in their early days from Ten to Vitalogy commercially. In regards to albumm sales, PJ have struggled in the late 90's and early 2000's.
RHCP struggled in the early days from their debut till Uplift Mofo Party Plan. Mothers Milk was better and it peaked 8 years in with BSSM. Since then they have had tons of hits and Californication is their biggest selling album to date. They're early sound is nothing compared to what they sound like today.
Looking forward to seeing the Chili Peppers next month here in Boston. :thumbup:He who forgets will be destined to remember.

Cranking out hit after hit after hit. Thats what these guys do better than anyone. I count nearly 30 in the past 20 years."FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250

There's alot of people that hate on it, but I think it's a masterpiece.

Universally Speaking
TEAR!!!!! just beautiful
Minor Thing
Really not a weak track on there and some different stuff for the Chilis.
Frusciante is a genius with the vocal harmonies on this one. Lotta cool guitar sounds and keys.0 -
Good to see the Chilis getting some love here!
Californication is my favorite album of theirs, reminds me of my youth... I can't even start counting the times me and my friends would drunkenly bellow along to Otherside

I'm a fan of RHCP. Seen them once, and have a handful of their albums. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is a stunner, and Mother's Milk is fucking awesome too. Also, One Hot Minute should not be overlooked. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as a guitarist, I think Dave Navarro is quite underrated.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

I like alot of the Chili Peppers music they are not one of my favorite bands. Like every two month I'll be in a Chili Peppers mode for a week and then I'll be over it. Not alot of their music really sticks to me.Tres Mts- 3/16/2011

Lover the Peppers but dont know much of their earlier stuff. Have only recently become a fan and bought their new album which I like very much. I hear die-hards dont like it much compared to their earleer stuff, but to a new fan like me it's great. Eventually I may get around to getting some of their eariler albums. If they come out hear later on in the year or early next year I'd consider going to see them.0

You've got to get Mother's Milk... I would consider it an earlier album, and it is quite good.7/2/06 - Denver, CO

The Chili Peppers was my first love back in the late 80s until grunge came along. Faves are Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Mother's Milk. I try to get into their newer stuff, but it's the early stuff that still holds me.Post edited by Jeanwah on0

In my opinion, One Hot Minute was their last great album. I hated that Navarro wasn't a good enough fit to continue with the band because I just loved that album.0
