Who sampled Pearl Jam
I stumbled upon this website that shows where artists' samples come from, or whose music theirs sounds similar to...anyway, I typed in Pearl Jam, and there were a couple of interesting ones.

The link above, scroll to about 5:24, and you'll hear a very familiar bass line. At 5:44, you'll hear a sample of the voice we've all grown to love.

At 1:25 at the above link...you know what, don't even click on it.

The above link, which is a song from rapper The Game, has a very familiar piano riff, so close, I almost wonder if PJ got royalties from it.
Now, on the other side of the coin, there are PJ songs that may sound similar to others. You already know about the Zeppelin/GTF similarity so I'll spare you that one.
When I first heard "Spin The Black Circle", it reminded me of a Hüsker Dü song, called Beyond the Threshold. Again, they obviously don't sound exactly alike, but they subtly remind me of each other.

Here's one that has been passed around a few years, but I think it's funny how close they are to each other. Why Go vs Metallica's "The End Of The Line".

Can you think of any others?

The game should be paying pearl jam for taking their beautiful song and turning it into that shit!0

Never really bought into the GTF/GTC comparison.
Ole and some Oasis song start out almost identically
Beginning of Breakerfall uses pretty similar chords to I Can See For Miles
Got Some is kinda similar to Gut Feeling by Devo
I don't think the piano think is close enough for royalties. You can't copyright a chord progression and the actual notes played have to be nearly identical.0 -
Ohh I, I am hardcore!!

That is so bad0 -
I did and your right dont bother.0

The best Pearl Jam sample ive ever heard (not that there are many of them)....The whole track is awesome, the sample kicks in right at the end around the 3min mark

Sweet! I could swear there's a small sample of something No Code-era in there. Sounds like a tiny slice of a Dead Man riff, or Sometimes...I can't put my finger on it.Ed...buddy...pal...stay true to your word and play Boise again.

Oh. My. God! I can't believe that I never noticed the Given to Fly/Going to California thing before!!! And these are my two favorite bands of all time, you'd think I would have picked up on it ... Maybe I was subconsciously in denial, lol. No wonder I like GTF so much (I think I like it better than GTC, although I'm never terribly impressed when a song sounds too much like another).Jerome230 wrote:I stumbled upon this website that shows where artists' samples come from, or whose music theirs sounds similar to...anyway, I typed in Pearl Jam, and there were a couple of interesting ones.

Can you think of any others? With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0
