Hartford 98 Poster Restoration Project **Complete**

I had my Hartford 98 poster from the show that had seen better days, and my endless search for one of the signed and numbered prints had gone nowhere in over a decade. I ordered one back in 2002 and Ames didn't it include it with the three other posters I ordered at the same time, by the time this was caught the poster was sold out and my struggle had begun! I was outbid numerous times on ebay and ignored by sellers on EB. This show was my first and I was a fool to tape my poster to a wall in my apartment. I love this poster and now that I am a little older and wiser I wanted a clean copy to frame to hang in my home. Back in November I found a company by the name of Posterfix that specializes in poster restoration.I documented the before and after pics. The after is by no means perfect but it has improved the print a great deal. I thought I would post this here in case anyone may have a print that is damaged and would be looking to get a restoration done. I paid $220 to have the print linen backed, the acid in the paper neutralized, a corner replaced and the color filled in where needed. The color is the only thing that did not come out 100% but it looks great in person and will be my prized possesion in my living room. I hope this is helpful or at least interesting to anyone who took the time to read this and see the pics on the shutterfly page I attached.

***UPDATE- Frame finally came back today. Really pleased with how it came out! Enjoy!!!

    I'm always trying to understand why this poster is so "hot". I'm not a collector, and this is the only one I have ever bought......and I have yet to find it packed away in my basement. been looking for years. I've seen past threads about this poster and don't get it...

    I would say based on the history you have with your copy, it's cooler to have that one than a mint one

    I agree. Now the copy you have is not just a poster - it's a commitment! I kinda like that idea!

    Anyway, I think they did a great job on your poster - it looks great!!!

    Thanks all. I like the idea of having the poster I purchased at the show and stuffed in my pocket. I am really very pleased with how it came out and I am going to now obsess about getting this framed :) .

    This was my first show and the poster was meanigful for that reason but it is still my all time favorite poster too. I think it really stands alone. But to each his own. Hopefully you find it in your basement.

    Awesome restoration job. Looks like new! And much cheaper than buying one of fleabay!
    Now it has a cool story to boot.

    Nice job, and in the end all that matters is how it feels to you when up on the wall. Make sure to post some pictures once you have it framed.

    I will get the pics up as soon as it is framed. I am going to use a guy on the West Coast and I don't know how long it will take but I will be sure to get them up when it comes back.

    HAhA I was at that show with you!! Also my first. But instead of the poster I bought a soccer jersey, damn it! And now that I am a grown man i cant even wear it! Stupid Jersey! :lol:

    I have since, acquired all the posters for every show I have attended EXCEPT----yep, my holy grail(probably me and a bunch of others'), Hartford '98!! Which I think is the best PJ poster ever. I will get one someday, but I am sure I will pay a lot!

    Anyway, that show was unforgettable, and very likely changed my life forever! Thanks for sharing it with me!! Great to see you on the boards, Otter! Keep on rockin in the ALB!

    Likewise! Put VIrginia Beach on your list of shows when they tour next. You've got a place to stay and a ride to the show.

    Looks great, this was my first show as well. Sadly, I never got a poster and the prices are out of control for it now.
