compressor pedal vs delay pedal?

So I'm looking into adding another pedal along with my distortion and clone pedals and it's down to a compressor pedal and delay, my question is, for those who know a lot about pedals what exactly does a compressor pedal do? I'm currently using a Fender Mustang III amp and the compressor is one of the built-in effects you can use but I still haven't quite figured it out.

    I don't see how a compressor pedal would be an option. compression is generally used to decrease dynamics in a sound (make the loud and quiet parts more similar in loudness). delay would be more fun.

    Indeed. My friend just got one and it's nice. I have the Line 6 DL4 that I love as well but it is also very pricey.

    If you're thinkin about a Carbon Copy check this out. Malekko 616...Alot like CC, but more flexible.

    I've never really messed with compression but I have checked them out. Keeley and Demeter are a couple to look at if you want a really good one.
