"Angel"... any best version for download?
I'd really like a good version of "Angel". The last time they played it was '94, and it was the Christmas single in '93 I think... I could do a youtube to mp3 conversion, but the quality of the performances posted is terrible. Does that mean there are no options (aside from spending an insane amount on the actual '93 single on ebay or whatever)? Why oh why didn't they put Angel on Lost Dogs or something? Boo hoo.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata

It wasn't released on Lost Dogs cause it's a Dave song and Ed still has a bug up his ass about him 17 years after the fact...
I think Stone has that same bug... the impression I've always had is that Dave was basically a dick-wad "rock star", and the others weren't... Anyway, "PJ download site" - excuse my ignorance; I don't know about those. Are there lots? ... I just found a download on Music Boom... for $69.95. WTF?? LOL!!
I love that song, and I doubt we'll ever hear it again live due to its origins.
Although, with this band, you never know!

Thank you ... Gremmie.net is down. It says it's under construction, but it more looks like it's gone forever.
Maybe I'll just suck it up and live with the bad youtube conversion... until they release the song finally, anyway! Wonder if they will, given Honking Seal's take on it?
it'll be back. they've posted some stuff on facebook & twitter that says they're gearing up for a re-launch.

Kind of... Basically he was fired for acting like he is in the 2012 version of Pearl Jam when he was in the band in the early 90's. There was a lot of hypocrisy going on back then that still continues today. (See the quote below...)
Yeah... I don't know if I agree with that interpretation. I get the quote; it has a point (of course, anyone who claims not to be a hypocrite is also a liar). But acting like the 2012 Pearl Jam? I don't think so. I heard sex, drugs, shiny cars, attitude. Not awesome and amazing.
He had the same girlfriend for years and the same shitty old car he had before joining the band. He didn't agree with the ticketmaster boycott, he felt they should just be playing music. He just didn't fit in. Ed was trying to get rid of him for some time before it actually happened. They treated him like a piece of crap, especially Ed, who didn't even have the common decency to talk to him after they fired him like the rest of the band did. Stone fired him at breakfast, the rest of the band but Ed called him to talk after it happened. The final straw was an interview that Dave gave to Modern Drummer that Ed didn't want him to do even though Ed was doing numerous articles himself...
Okay. So Ed and the others hated Dave. *shrug* I just think Dave was acting like an a-hole, not the other way around. That's usually the case when 4 guys don't like what 1 other guy is about and it turns a bit ugly.
I wonder how Dave feels about that stickman tattoo...
I understand why the boycott would piss him off though. Even though I will always appreciate it, because I was one of those poor people who couldn't afford the concerts. I admire people who are willing to make sacrifices for their principles. But if those weren't Dave's principals, then that's okay and I get his frustration. In the end, he was just a bad fit for Pearl Jam.
PS - I'm pretty sure he was a man-ho as well, girlfriend or no, not that it's any of my business, but I don't think the band was into that kind of thing.
Ya, You're way off on your opinions, You should read some books on it to get the real facts... Dave said he still loves the tattoo cause it represents a great time in his life. I've never heard or read on thing about him cheating, That's nonsense! You definitely need to read some books on it and you'll realize how far off base you are but I don't need to get in a pissing contest about this anymore...
Basically, Dave wanted to be a rock star and live the lifestyle. Ed didn't want that... Well, now he does...
I had no idea we were getting into a pissing contest, lol! Well, I've read books and everything - they don't usually address the those issues either way (of course, I'm reading as a PJ fan, not a Dave Abruzzese fan!). I'm just going off of what I've picked up over the years, that's all. But no matter what, I still have the impression that he was an a-hole kind of a guy.
I think you're way off on your opinions about Eddie now, so we're even.
Read "Everybody loves our town" and several others and you can read about what actually happened and not what you overheard from your cousins best friends sister...
Fair play, although I don't see it as an f-you to Ed. More like an attempt at peacemaking, actually. But the rest had had it; they weren't all going to come to terms.... Ugh, honestly, I don't even care about the relationship between Dave and the band, and never really did much; not sure how I got into this long conversation, lol.
So yeah, if anyone knows where to find an affordable really good version of Angel, please let me know.
?? I just don't think that Ed has sold out (I'm not really arguing with you about what you know of Dave). I don't really care in the long run - not enough to seek out books about the guy, that's for sure.
That makes better sense, because I just re-read the Glorified G lyrics, and Angel wouldn't make sense as any kind of come back or whatever. But I do understand why PJ might never release Angel again. Doubt they want to start performing the song where Dave makes his little stand.
Yeah... I was just hoping someone might be able to point me towards a good download of a bootleg; I'm having trouble finding one (maybe I'm google-dumb, I don't know). Whoopsies on my thread, lol.
haha, the thought did cross my mind!
Its so obvious you have a bug about the dave thing which is fine but youre giving everyone else w a different take a pretty hard time. What makes your sources more credible than other books written on the subject? I am intrigued by what actually happened but things are obviously for the better. He was an amazing drummer for that time period. I love the evolution of pj and i dont think his style would fit binaural etc. I also dont think some of the albums after he left would have been possible if he stuck around. You can blame ed but the reality is that ed became the driving force behind the band and i think ed's pedigree holds up pretty well.

And Ed's pedigree is holding up but his voice sure isn't! Needs to stop smoking like a chimney, especially now that he hittin' up people for almost $100 a head to see him. He kinda sounds like Kathleen Turner now...
