So what are the Ed Solo shows like anyway?

    I'll second the motion for sitting down and remaining quiet and not hollering anything stupid or yelling for songs at the stage. Those guys can derail a show completely, it's infuriating.

    it's a really special night and you're gonna love it :)

    It's definitely a hell of a lot more intimate than a regular PJ concert, the venues are always kind of older style but beautiful as well. He plays for almost 3 hours with just a short break

    They're a lot of fun, Ed's a great story teller and he will have you laughing your ass off. Add that to his awesome musical talent, and it makes for a very entertaining evening.

    He enjoyed it very much - of course I made sure he knew the album ahead of time. He's now my PJ concert buddy and was excited to see Ed solo again in Long Beach with me last year.

    My fella and I had back row seats - during 'Hard Sun' the house lights were up and felt like Ed was performing just for us. Lots of laughs and mateship in the crowd - the blokes next to me kept turning to me in awe ("Is he serious?") as Ed covered topics such as opening fan-mail, hanging out at one of our local beaches, Yield/'Give Way' signs, Sean Penn and his work with APJ, and how the two WA states should swap weather for a day (*crowd boos*).

    I was at that show, and I LOVED that he started it off by saying that, because most of the jerks yelling stuff out shut up after he said that, and it was a fantastic show.

    it's cool when other people come out to play with him too...thought that I would miss the whole pj crew...but it was a different beast altogether...

    The shows are fantastic. So intimate, it really feels more like an experience than a concert if that makes any sense.

    My advice is to lose yourself in the music and not pay too much attention to what the rest of the crowd is doing. Unless they are really cool and rocking, of course. There have been too many stories of people letting other people ruin their nights. There will be meatheads yelling and their will be people tweeting, but don't let it get in the way of what you want to do.

    a few songs....on a few different stringed instruments, and a few stories thru out the night.

    i was just listening to the chicago show from last summer and he's talking about buying joints in the basement of the chicago threater. :lol:

    I haven't been to his solo show (:(), but I've watched a few of them on youtube, etc, and it seems to me that, aside from being a show performed by the best musical artist in the history of the world, it is really intimate, and peaceful. And yes, I saw the footage about the people in the audience "stealing the silence," lol. "Hey you! Drop the silence right now!" haha. Because of the nature of most of his solo work, he likes people to really just shut up and take in the music rather than whoot and whoo hoo their way through it, as it seems really distracting and obnoxious amidst that intimate atmosphere he sets up... and I got that just from watching it on a screen - even that seems magical, so I can only imagine how amazing it is in person! Oh man, I wish he were bringing the tour to Vancouver this year! I NEED to see him live! :cry:
