...please feel free to shoot this down but I know this community and just thought I would throw it out there. I will be at the Ft lauderdale show and it is Mother's Day. My mom insisted I go. However my mother Lynne was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September. She had an operation done called the Whipple procedure which is the second most difficult surgery in the world behind a liver transplant. Although my parents have good insurance intangibles add up as my dad is not working to help her. If I were to try an organize a pre party with proceeds benefiting her or pancreatic cancer would anyone be on board or is that too self indulgent? Iknow the Wishlist Foundation does some amazing things. This community is awesome and is always looking to help......just thought I would throw it out there. Logical question: "Why the fuck are you going to a concert on Mother's day when your Mom has pancreatic cancer?" She insisted...thats just her :) here is a FB forum I set up in her honor...thanks

i'm so sorry to hear this, but happy she's had the surgery

i don't think its self-indulgent at all ... although i would generalize it to benefit the cause in general...i dunno...ask about as you are doing

go for it, i'm sure you will have the support you're looking for

I will be in Ft Lauderdale for that show with my daughter....we would definitely support your cause if it works out in a way that we could. And if we couldn't be present at the preparty (because of her age, or location etc), I am sure I have something to donate for the cause. Best wishes to your mom, who must be awesome as she encouraged you to see Eddie on Mother's Day ;)

  • All things aside, and all things considered, this thread is about an ailing family member... and has nothing to do w/the lost dogs forum. Save it for another time.

Ok, back to thread topic. Sawyer, i think it's a great thing you're doing, and the Wishlist Foundation is called just that for a reason.

My family and I were HUGE benefactors of donations at the St. Louis EV show last year, after the tornado here in May 2011. I'm not sure who's setting up the pre-party for this show, but you should contact them directly once you find out. I'm sure there's a thread on it somewhere here.

As for your mother, my prayers go out to her, and i hope she pulls through this.

I don't think it'll be that big of a deal as long as the funds raised go to an outreach organization that serves all pancreatic cancer patients and you mother can utilize those resources.
    Good luck with that.

i dont mind you razzing me but putting this in a pancreatic cancer thread is pretty bad

I'm really sorry man, I really am. Cancer sucks. I''ve seen it too many times in my life time to be honest. You should be with your mom on Mother's Day instead of being at a concert a couple of thousand miles away in all honesty. You never know how many more Mother's Days there will be. I'm sure a third party will step in and help the charity drive for you. Good luck to you and your mom.
  • You should contact Laura aka FoxyMop from the Wishlist Foundation. She could give you some instructions on how to organize a pre-party.
