  • As close to 6th Street as you can...thats where you will WANT TO BE before and after the show!!!!!!!! Have fun...I will be there for Saturday show.
  • I suggested AustinMotel which is not like a traditional motel...on south congress....great trendy area...$7 taxi ride to concert....6th street area is good too but it's gonna be a pricier ($125-$150 a night)

    check out www.austinmotel.com

I would agree with Austin Motel. If you got the funds to go big I would do San Jose or The Driskill.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

If you are going big, then think about Saint Cecilia Hotel. It's probably the nicest/coolest hotel in Austin. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie has it booked out. I've been told the band booked it out many moons ago.

Personally, I would avoid dirty 6th St. like the plague, it's not for everyone. After the show I'd hit up Red River, or maybe some of the eastside bars. There is also Psychfest going on with a killer lineup, but that could be a reach depending on how much time you have after the show (and for the weekend).

The Super 8 just East of I-35 isn't the nicest hotel, but it's reasonable price wise and is real close to downtown, or the La Quinta downtown.

Agree. Stick to west 6th or Rainey St. Although Logan's on the dirty side after 1am is pretty great.

  • I agree 6th st is over-rated. Notch below New Orleans Bourbon Street feel, and later at night not that safe, really. For hanging out after the show either stay in the bars neat UT area or go to South Congress (called "SoCo") or what is known as the west 6th St area.

I agree that Hotel San Jose and Hotel St Celilia are one of a kind. For A+ location with B quality and price hotel, the Raddison on Town Lake is perfect. The Double Tree Guest Suites is probably closet to the venue.

Oh yeah, forgot great bar scene on Rainey St east of downtown.
