    I guess it depends if you are a setlist guy, or an energy and crowd participation guy.
    If the latter, then BA is a really really good choice.

    The performance is not perfect (there are mistakes, some more noticeable than others), but I think that is common to most Pearl Jam shows. The energy though, is simply spectacular. I am partial because I was there, and the show was very special to me. I think the bootleg gods did a great job on the mix, and listening to this boot is really taking me back to the show.

    So for me, yes, it really is that good.

    There are times when you notice how they mix in more or less audience sound (in a few instances this is not seamless, I could especially tell in the transition from Do the Evolution to Wasted Reprise. But overall, a splendid job on the bootleg.

    Hope this helps.
    I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
    If I knew where it was I would take you there.

    I'm definitely more of a setlist guy, I could care less about the crowd energy for bootlegs, but in person I get what you're saying about being the other way around. Good post about possible differences.

    Typically I'm a setlist guy too, but thinking about it I have every song 10 or 20 times live from my boots, so this time I went with great crowd.

  • The crowd is what makes this performance so good. I wish my money could have went to the crowd instead of the band for this one. If you don't care about an awesome audience in the background singing along like crazy people to the lyrics and the music then it's probably not the best choice because the setlist itself is nothing spectacular.

    That's actually solid reasoning, especially if this is the crowd that Eddie himself described as magical in the interview with Rob on PJ radio which I believe was the next day or something. Am I right?

    I go for setlist. The crowd usually comes across about the same on most of the official boots I've heard.

    Definitely. I love a great setlist, but when you get the energy from the crowd like this one, it doesnt get any better than that.

    This is what the Kufala guy said about it on a related thread

    Hands down Buenos Aires is the bootleg to get from this tour. Set List might not be as good as some of the other shows but the crowd is the best I have heard on any of the bootlegs we have worked with the band on (2008-2011). The Argentinians take it to a whole different level compared to US/CA/EU/AU/NZ crowds. The whole crowd singing the melody during Given To Fly will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Even Flow also highlights just how on fire the crowd was and the band responds. 11 minute version of Black with the Crowd signing along on their own for about 4 minutes. It's one for the ages.

    Tune in next week to hear the premiere of Buenos Aires on Pearl Jam Radio and on XM/Sirius

    You can check the whole thread here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=181843#p4206313

    By the way, the Buenos Aires show premiere is today at 11 am PST... listen to it and then you can decide for yourself...

    And this is the setlist, and in fact, it is amazing, great songs, and is one of the longest, almost 3 hours, I would change only one or two, to me it was a great set list, and it doesn't have Daughter or RVM, and still is a kick ass setlist...

    Set List

    {general note. crowd is very enthusiastic. They sing along with the band and often wordlessly sing the vocal melody or guitar parts. They chant "Pearl Jam" or "Eddie" at every opportunity}

    01. Release
    02. Go
    03. Interstellar Overdrive-(Barrett, Mason, Waters, Wright)
    04. Corduroy
    05. Hail Hail
    06. Given To Fly (briefly forgets lyrics)
    {Ed addresses the crowd in Spanish. He asks the crowd to step back to give people more room and mentions that the show is being broadcast on the radio}
    07. The Fixer {Mike switches guitars at the 2nd ch}
    {crowd sings a [pearl jam?] song in Spanish while the band gets ready to play the next song}
    08. Amongst The Waves
    09. Immortality
    10. Evenflow
    11. You Are
    12. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
    13. Lukin
    14. Unthought Known
    15. Do The Evolution
    16. Wasted Reprise
    17. Life Wasted
    18. Jeremy
    19. Porch

    Encore Break 1
    {Crowd sings "Blitzkrieg Bop". A Ramones shirt gets thrown onstage. Ed shows it to the crowd}
    20. Just Breathe
    21. Garden
    22. Last Kiss-(Cochran)
    23. Supersonic
    {Ed addresses the crowd in Spanish. He says something about the Ramones}
    24. I Believe In Miracles-(Ramone, Ray)
    25. State Of Love And Trust
    26. Blood/Atomic Dog-(Clinton, Shider, Spradley)

    Encore Break 2
    27. Smile
    28. Mother-(Waters) {Crowd shouts "no" after the line "Should I trust the government" like the crowd in Rio de Janeiro did}
    29. Black {Crowd sings Outro and then goes into a long "Olé, Olé song. they jump and chant another song. Ed thanks X and then says since Argentinians are the biggest Ramones fans in the world he introduces his friend and guitar tech Ricky Ramone who also worked for Johnny Ramone}
    30. Betterman/I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend-(Ramones)/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)
    31. Why Go
    32. Alive
    33. Rockin' In The Free World-(Young)

    There are many better shows you could choose for getting all your favourites or rarities in the setlist. This show has a good setlist but it's definately aimed at an audience who don't get many shows. Personally I hate hearing boots where the crowd is way down in the mix, especially if it's a particularly loud crowd. Live music is about atmosphere as much as performance for certain bands and the blend of both on BA is better than you'll hear on any other PJ show. You could pick holes in bad musicianship or point out the fact that you can't actually hear the fans for every minute of the show but this is really unlike any show I've heard PJ play. It isn't the best show ever but it is pretty damn special! If anyone got this and was disappointed I'd be pretty surprised.
    Like a book among the many on a shelf...
