Song (lyrics) suggestions for my wedding...

I'm getting married in June and I got the green light to have some lyrics of a PJ song be one of the readings during the ceremony (granted the boss like it, of course). I thought about Hail Hail, but I already know the lyrics aren't "pretty enough" for her. Any suggestions?

BTW, she ok'd "picture in a frame" as our first dance song. I just wanted to share that because I'm pretty stoked about it.

"Hail, hail the lucky ones/I refer to those in love/Swore I'd love you till the day I die and beyond/Are we going to the same place/If so, can I come" ain't pretty enough? Who is this philistine you're marrying?

    I kid (maybe).

    Uh, how about "Just Breathe"?

    Parachutes

"I would have fallen from the sky 'til you, parachutes have opened now"

"Wish the world could go again with love, one can seem to have it all...what a different life had I not found this love with you"
"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them." - Thoreau

No time to be void, or save up on life, you've got to spend it all

That part's great, it's the egg rolling and stuff I don't think she'd like. Just breathe might work, I was hoping for something a little more obscure though.

That's a good one that I hadn't thought about. Thanks!

Just breathe is about death. My buddy had that at his wedding and the non idiots there (my gf and i) were amused. I think john does golden state is awesome (eddie singing). You can close your eyes (james taylor cover) that eddie and natalie maines did at wm3 show is great too. You are is nice as well but a bit funky.

It's about death? Every movie in every cinema is about death. Death sells.

To say the song is "about death" is not really accurate. It's about living. And it's definitely a love song. Sure, death is mentioned in the song, but not in the sense that it's something that's impending.

Hell, when Ed played the song in St. Louis, he dedicated it to a couple who were about to have their first baby and he told a story about the birth of his first daughter.

"Hold me 'til I die" isn't all that different from "'til death do us part."

    YMMV.

    Take your pick from this

This broken wheel is coming undone
    And the roads exploding
    But you're keeping me strong
    Rolling along with you,...

    Love is a tower
    And you're the key
    Leading me higher
    When you let me in

    Keeping us close,... so close
    On down the line

Sometimes I burn like a dot on the sun
    With no one knowing
    But you're keeping me strong
    Rolling along with you

    You are a tower of
    Strength to me
    The darkening hour
    Sees light again

Ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah, ooh wah
Ooh wah, ooh wah, you are... you are

    Love is a tower
    Of strength to me
    I am the shoreline
    But you're the sea

    You are.

Some words when spoken...Can't be taken back...
  • have im open (second half of the song play as you walk up the isle to the front to wait for your bride to be, as for a reading i like the beatles song "i've just seen a face", i have heard eddie sing the first two versus and the chorus as a little acapella between songs, always loved it, here are the lyrics from the part of the song he sang, theres more if you google the lyrics.

    I've just seen a face,
I can't forget the time or place
That we'd just met, she's just the girl for me
And I want all the world to see we've met
Na na na na na na

    Had it been another day
I might have looked the other way
But I had never been aware
And as it is I dream of her tonight
Na na na na na na

    CHORUS:
    Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling me back again

    repeat chorus
    push me pull me

  • How about some lyrics from Thin Air?

Love can keep on moving,... in both directions...
How to be happy and true...
Is the quest we're taking on together...

There's a light,... when my baby's in my arms...

And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air
And I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air
Yes I know she's reached my heart,... in thin air

    Or Amongst the Waves:

    Once outside the undertow
Just you & me & nothing more
If not for love I would be drowning
I’ve seen it work both ways, but I am up

    Riding high amongst the waves
    I can feel like I
Have a soul that has been saved

    Gotta say it now
    Better loud
    Than too late

Play a live version, very loud and noisy, of Yellow Ledbetter when the party is over, and you want them to fucking leave the premises... That's what I'd do if I ever get married...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

  • Just Breathe is an extremely tragic song. Yes it's about love but is VERY MUCH also about death. The song is references true love which will one day have to confront death, either literally or metaphorically. The song acknowledges death in the first and last lines.
"I had a false belief, I thought I came here to stay, We're all just visiting..."

"So if you've got a heart and give it away, and someone breaks it, fuck 'em."
  • PJ is not the best for straight forward love songs.... If u dig zeppelin try "thank you"
you're god and you've got big hands
  • If u like the foo fighters try miracle off in your honor

"Crazy but I'm relieved this time
Begging for sweet relief of blessing in disguise
    Dying behind these tired eyes
I've been losing sleep, please come to me tonight

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

    Everything that we survived
Its gonna be alright, just lucky we're alive
Got no vision I've been blind
Searchin' everywhere, you're right here in my sights

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

Hands on a miracle, I got my hands on a miracle
Leave it or not, hands on a miracle
I got my hands on a miracle
And there ain't no way, let you take it away

    Take it away, take it

Gotta agree w this evolution person w the strange profile pic. If you think this song is appropriate for the beginning of a union aka marriage youve got to be kidding or youre just really "interesting". Ive been to some shows and ed as either dedicated it someone who lost someone or someone who almost did (cancer survivor). I am all about freedom of interpretation but this song doesnt hide much. Literal and metaphorical references to DEATH throughout. Maybe just breathe would be a good 25th or 50th anniversary song but a bit depressing for a wedding. Cmon man.
