At the risk of being repetitive, but I couldn't find this thread, you cannot make a comment about the self-titled album until you listen to it on vinyl. I was one of the biggest hatters of this album but I just opened the sealed vinyl I've had for a while and it totally change my view on the album. Each album has the song or two that you might skip but the rest you have to hear. It's what makes me think that if you listen to any PJ album on vinyl you will never think any of them are bad. This is what makes every album as good as the other no matter what people think. They're all great, and it's what makes their music stand the test of time.

Makes me want to unwrapped my copy of riot act and see how it sounds, but I'll prob hold out on that for a while.

I got the Selftitled aka Avocado album first on vinyl, then on CD, 16 + 13, remember, it was 2006... and I love it, mostly I love the art design, but at that time it had been a long while since I last purchased a PJ related item, tough times those, I missed the oportunity to get Binaural and Riot Act on vinyl, not a third time, Side A: Life wasted, WWS, Comatose, Severed hand, they completely blew my mind... then Side B, the best songs from the album Marker in the sand, Parachutes, Unemployable (the best IMO) and Big wave, amazing... Side C is ok, you got Gone which is pretty cool, then wasted reprise which is nice, and then Army reserve, which I love, and Come back, not of my favs... and finally, Inside job, superb, great song, perfect to close the album...

The guitars is what I love the most, the punk-like style of most of the songs, especially Comatose and Big wave... nothing to do with Riot act, which I love as well, and again, especially the guitars, the riffs from You are, Half full, of course Save you, Cropduster, Ghost, and All or none got the finest ones... IMO, Binaural, Riot Act and Avocado are underrated, unappreciated, and that's fine, may be nostalgia keeps others from liking this albums, time will make amends for them... it's them who miss the joy of listening to this albums...

I understand that it's tough to break the seal, but you must spin Riot Act. If you are not planning on selling it, you are simply doing your ears a great disservice by not cracking it open and spinning the shit out of it!

Thanks but my PJ20 is unsealed and I'd like to keep it. It's tough finding an Avocado for under $150 these days.

i don't have it on vinyl-yet. i do have the tape. yes the tape. it gave it a different vibe on analog equipment. i love that record now. it was the most logical step to take after riot act. a step towards the light that they're fully embracing on backspacer. inside job is one of pj's best songs. to see mike pull out the jimmy page double neck on the live version is awesome too!
i didn't like it when it first came out, because as i've previously stated on here- critics were calling it "a return to the sound of vs." a "comeback" record. the artwork is cool. too. it reminds me a little of tool, especially the video of life wasted (classic stone g. riff) worlwide suicide was huge on radio. i think that the true gems are severed hand, marker in the sand & inside job. i like big wave & comatose or anything punky, but love the "groove" / jam sounding songs. they entered another realm with inside job. that could've been a pink floyd or led zeppelin song. i hope the next record is truer to this style. i love backspacer, it's a feel good record, but avacado had the classic pj style to it. the tour for bs was phenomonal, though. so many great shows...i reccomend finding the letterman 5/4/06 show. it does not disappoint. oh yeah, will have to check this on wax. then i'll transfer from wax to cd, just to get the vibe in my car.

Unseal all your vinyls! Release the vinyl. Let it be freeeeeeeee!

Also, this is one of my fav PJ albums with or without the vinyl. The second reccord of this LP is one of the best sounding records I own

Play them, wear them, watch them, carry stuff in them, release them all, use them for what they were intended, can't understand the 'keep 'em sealed' crew. If you're not going to sell it then use it.

And you can't beat vinyl, I just can't afford any PJ black stuff unfortunately

I opened my sealed Riot Act, that I'd had since release day, a few months ago, The first disc was warped

Still plays pretty much ok, but can't put the lid down on my turntable, and it's disheartening to watch it undulating up and down
