If uTorrent just doesn't seem to download... when there are multiple seeders... how do i kickstart it again?

Try another torrent file to see if it's doing the same thing. If yes, try ..

    Restarting it.
    Reinstalling it.
    Check your firewall.
    Open ports.

    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • So i started a brand new dime account, uninstalled and reinstalled uTorrent, and everything just sits there downloading at 0%

Which torrent are you downloading? How many seeders & leechers?
I'll check it out & see.

might be a dumb question but, with SOPA, won;t these sites be shut down along with megaupload and other like them?

    SOPA was squashed....http://www.usatoday.com/money/media/sto ... 52698192/1
but it should only be a matter of time before the newer legislation appears

There are rules set with many torrent sites. What's legal & what's illegal to seed / leech. For example live music trading torrent sites. Many don't offer official live released products to be torrented on their sites. Just live audience recordings of show's from artists that are ok with tape trading /torrenting their live music. No official studio recordings or official live bootlegs that can be bought online or in stores. Which is a great thing.

Megaupload is in a whole different ball park then what many live music trading torrent sites are offering. You can do whatever you want with Megaupload. Upload whatever you want. Download whatever you want. Legal or illegal, you can just about do anything with your digital product on Megaupload without getting your file deleted, taken down or get a warning about it.

Weird thing is http://static.thepiratebay.org/legal/sopa.txt , from Sweden, can't be stopped by SOPA. But Megaupload, who are outside the USA (like PirateBay), got taken down? I don't understand. :?

From what I've read the reason the US gov was able to shut megaupload down was because apparently they had a server located on US soil in Virginia.

is your port forwarding set up correctly? that can make torrents act a little screwy. or your firewall could be blocking the income port. or both.

IE in the utorrent settings theres a port you set up for incoming connections. The router needs to be setup so that port forwards to your computer, and the firewall on computer needs not block traffic coming in on that port.

not properly setting up port forwarding can make torrents really screwy. it doesn't make it impossible to get good speaks, but it makes it much more difficult for connections to come in to your computer.

Also what version are you using. new versions of utorrent suck. go google and find version 2.0.4

at the bottom of verson 2.0.04. at the bottom, theres either a green check mark or a yellow box with an exclamation mark. if its a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, double click it and run the network test to see if your port(s) are forwarded properly.

    Exactly! Listen to Zod! :)

But the latest new µTorrent software's are not bad. 3.1 is the latest new version. The only thing I don't like about it is now they have µTorrent Plus. It's promoted all over the software. Money talks these day's.

    :|

The "new" thing is Bit Torrent Live! "BitTorrent Live is a new peer-to-peer live streaming protocol currently in development and testing. BitTorrent Live leverages the power of viewing community to stream live video over the Internet with no server infrastructure required and a low latency experience."

    ..

Also add in µTorrent, don't forget to enable BitTorrent. How? Go to Options > Prefrences > BitTorrent. The Protocol Encryption Outgoing box, pick "Enabled". Check mark "Allow incoming legacy connections."

And add if there is just 1 or 2 seeders you see on the file, and say nobody else leeching, and the file was available for a long time, it will be tough to get that file downloaded if that 1 or 2 seeder is on a firewall or faraway not letting you connect to them.
