I was a lucky boy this holiday season and received the best Pearl Jam gift ever, so I had to share. My girlfriend and I attended the PJ20 weekend (EPIC!!) this past September at Alpine Valley. It was her first 2 shows (no big deal...) and loved the experience and the music. I think her favorite thing though was getting to see the way that I behave at shows and turn from what I would consider a fairly dignified adult into a kid in a candy store. By seeing the joy that Pearl Jam gives me,(and of course the fact that they ROCK) she gained the appreciation that has hooked so many people into being dedicated and devoted Pearl Jam fans.

Back to point. One of her hobbies and way to relax after killer 12 hour nursing shifts is to paint canvas prints. She took this up as a way of cataloging her hobby of travel and a means to share her experiences with the people close to her in a nonconventional manner. Since she is an avid photographer as well, and chooses 1 photo from her said trip and recreates it abstractly in an original canvas.

She was sweet enough to paint me a one of a kind original recreation of one of the many photos we took at the PJ20 weekend.

We sat down front Night 1 and in the lawn Night 2 (We like to sing/dance). She wanted to include Mike and Boom in the painting so she took shots of them and strategically inserted them to give us all six band members. She wanted to emphasize the unity, collective nature, and pure friendship of the group (It's what's kept them playing long enough for a PJ20 weekend). She left all the band member's faces blank in a gesture to highlight the subtract of individualism necessary to be successful as a group.

Enjoy

  • can't upload from your desktop, you'd have to upload to the web somewhere, then post a link to it from there.

    go to photobucket.com
    create an account (it's free)
    upload your pictures to photobucket
    copy the IMG link
paste the IMG link in this thread
    hit submit
    done!

if you need to resize the pics, you can also do that in photobucket.
    I LOVE MUSIC.

I said the same thing but she wanted no discernible features to any of their faces. Can't argue with the artist haha
  • Glad to see you got them to work! Love the painting...good choice of the Red background1
