Yahoo Account Issues

Apparently I am not the only one having problems with my Yahoo Account. Figured i'd change the thread title so we can all come here and try and help one another out, when Yahoo tech support is less than helpful.

So... my email has been hacked, and all of my contacts have been getting these wonderful emails from "me" with links to god only knows what. When I tried to change my password with Yahoo, in the account management and settings page, i enter my user name and password, it says I do not exist. I am signed into my email right now, and I most certainly do exist.

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem, and what you did to fix it. My email is, i believe, linked to my internet at home, so I cant just close it out...yet. Not to mention that this is the only email address I have had for my entire life, so just about EVERYTHING (fan clubs, credit cards, etc) is linked to it and closing the account would be my last resort.

Im trying to avoid a phone call to at&t...They're usually less than helpful.

Hope someone here can help, and if your one of the many people getting spam emails from me, my apologies. (Ten Club....sorry :? )

How come at&t would be your point of contact? Because they're your internet provider?
Maybe try Yahoo first. Contacting at&t might be like contacting Ford Motors because some groceries you transported in your car fell over. Ford has nothing to with it.

Thanks. I only got so far with Yahoo. When it tells me that my username/password are incorrect, it told me to contact my ISP.

This is so frustrating! I wish it would just stop, but Im afraid this is only the beginning, as the first bogus email went out just last night.

What I get when I go thru that, and put in my email addy:

Error: The domain name entered does not exist.

idk how I dont exist if im currently logged in.
bad week for me to be dealing with this...making christmas cookies and wrapping presents and all :evil:

in the meantime, maybe the jerkoff hacker will pay my credit card bill that was just emailed to me

I received one of the weird emails from you _ I forget what the paragraph of text said, but I knew you didn't write it. There was a link embedded. I didn't click _ at work they just warned us about an email scam that asks you to click on an included link, and when you do it silently installs malware.

Can you call Yahoo? I think that's what I did years ago when I had a problem with my AOL account.

Yah, Im gonna have to call them. Either Yahoo or AT&T. Never a short phone call w/ AT&T so I just need to find some time while Im not at work to do it.

I did run malwarebytes the morning after it all started, so i know the computer is free of viruses and malware.

call yahoo...and if you did, how did it work out for you? just spent 5 unsuccessful minutes trying to find yahoo's number for you...maybe i should google it

yahoo seems to have issues..i try 20 min to log in and cant..and put me to put to answer to my secret question,that i never put...
i see 1 mail unread at my inbox but when i clik ,cant see that unread,i saw was a mail from the forum,,notification for pm..
when i clik inbox,,says try again nad again....

the rest working ok,,sent mails,saved,files..etc..,..no pro,,but inbox cant open..only if i refresh ones,,after that i can read only one mail..then again need to refresh to see inbox mails..

D you may have been hacked too. i highly suggest changing your password.

i just did...same problem..all work ok,exept get into inbox..
go when i open it...after what ever i do,sent a mail,see mails,go outbox,files,cant get back to inbox,need to f5 the page only ...and there is always that one unread at inbox,that cant see in the inbox..

thats wierd D. Sounds like an entirely different problem than mine. Do you have people in your inbox getting fake emails from you? I did at one point get to where they asked me to answer my secret question..which I thought I had never set up either. Come to find out I had...must have done when I initially set up my dsl account or something (and I was able to hassle AT&T for a "hint" when I called).

Yahoo has been quite glitchy lately. New updates to the calendar on a regular basis really seem to screw everything up. And every once in a while it wont let me get into my inbox - it will ask if i want to revert to the old "mail classic" or "try again". I always click "try again" and it always lets me in

So, after much inner thought, I was able to FINALLY change my password.
And I hope the spam emails stop coming from my account.

In an effort to make a long story short -
AT&T bridged my current email with the email address initially assigned to my dsl account.
The email addy initially assinged was in my mom's name, because I couldnt get the acct in my own name when I first signed up - was too young and didnt have a credit card. (that was like 12 yrs ago!)
So I recently moved, and asked if they could just take my current email addy (which has been my primary email for my entire life) and replace the old one on the account, so I didnt have to keep referring to this old email addy and password anytime i have to re-boot my modem or have problems w/ my dsl account. Well, they f'd up, didnt delete the original one, and instead added my current email as a sub account - hence why I was unable to log in - I was logging into the wrong acct.

So, I'll eventually have to make a phone call to AT&T to straighten this out, but until then at least I know how to change my password!

compllitely fucked up situation..
now i get an 999 error..and cant have access to inbox and all folders....i logt in the acount but cant open anything..
\atleast i forward all mails for 2012 tour,to a hotmail acount
so i know the flights,hotel and etc..im searching the web for solution,i mail yahoo as well..

that sux Dimi! Sounds like you may end up having to call Yahoo at some point. Hopefully they can fix or walk you through the problem via email. I hope it all gets worked out for you...I know how frustrating it can be. At least you already have a back up plan in place!

We rely so much on technology these days, and sometimes that can prove to me a major issue!

Im wondering tho, Dimi...do you get that 999 error every day? every time you try to log in? That does happen here sometimes (we use the Yahoo calendars at my work) and I have gotten the 999 error a few times, and usually within an hour or a few, you are finally able to log in. Almost like the Yahoo servers are just having problems in general. But if its a prolonged problem.... Sounds like the issue has to be on their end.

you can change your email with both, i am sure. not sure what the process is with 10c - probably just a matter of going into your acct settings and making the change. Paypal maybe a little harder with security questions and such. I know I have gone into mine in the past, cuz I have gotten numerous fake emails from paypal telling me my acct was hacked, or changed...just baiting me for info....so I just go to paypal every once in a while and go thru my info - make sure nothing has changed in terms of my personal info and contact info.

As far as the phone number for yahoo goes. There must be different numbers depending on what country you are in. I know I found an 800 number for use in USA and Canada. The link for that may actually be in this thread. Let me look into this more and see if I can find a number for you.

I have Yahoo! Mail, and am not having the problems you are...but maybe by doing the upgrade to the newer version of Yahoo Mail would fix your problem? Otherwise, from the sounds of that, they arent going to respond to emails or provide support on the older versions of mail.
