These are the lyrics that I wrote that started off as a poem, but became a song for my band Luna Rex:

Beginning to End

How can you blame me for staying up late?
Counting the hours in every day
I’m a fool for waiting for you, because
When you’re not here I’ve lost my sight

Silence is Loud as I stare
Its Simple though, as nowhere

Such is life, and the way it goes
The end is far off where nobody knows
…down the road

(Chorus) how can we fly when we haven’t learned to walk?
Climb a tree when all there is, is city?
Breath underwater though we haven’t cut that chord
(x2)

Looking forward to tomorrow
Expecting you to walk right through that door
Fires burning its warm as that day
That Summers fires sent you away

Silence, as pages curl
Read these words
Over and over

Such is life, and the way it goes
The end might be near but nobody knows
…that road

(Chorus) how can we fly when we haven’t learned to walk?
Climb a tree when all there is, is city?
Breath underwater though we haven’t cut that chord
(x2)

Counting on, sitting right here
And asking my friends in the sky to
Bring you home

G, I have an acoustic version of the song on mp3, but I havent posted it anywhere - its a bit rough. I havent recorded it with the full band yet.
I'll post some other lyrics and tunes later though. :)

I think these are awesome song lyrics. I especially like the line "climb a tree when all there is, is city."
Luna Rex is a cool band name, not that you asked--just saying.

Thanks Cheeks! that's one of my favorite lines of the song/poem.

Thanks about the name too -- Its got a fun story on the name...I thought I had a ghost in my house for the first few years I lived here...turns out I just drank too much, haha! anyways, I pictured this ghost as a little girl of about 11 yrs old who died in the 1920's. Named her "Luna"...She's friendly though, but likes to disrupt the band because she thinks its "noise". So she wrecks the house or "rex" not "wrecks" the house.
    :D

Great lyrics/poem. And that story behind your bands name is amazing, I love it!

    Thanks!

Goofy video for this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL7SVIoDyiE

Majic Table and the Story of the Ghost

    I am seeing things
out of the corner of my eye.
    Uninvited girl sitting right here
    In a 1920’s disguise.

Glance and flash, if your eyes not fast
    She probably won’t come back.
Wants to be seen, just by me
    take me to the otherside.
    _______________________________
    (Chorus)
    Her Apparition condition...
    It’s hardly my outline

    Ghost may be streakin
    I’m not believing
    That I’m following behind.

    She is in my kitchen
    I am not believing
    That she is not alive.

    She whispered my name
    Others’ll think I’m insane
    For dancing by myself.
    ________________________________

Little girl was glowin but I was not knowin
It’s a Doppelganger by my side
Nobody can see her, I’ve asked them all please
    For spirits unconsciously

Can’t be dragged, because I’m not dead
    She will not surmise.
    And there on the mirror
The Evidence was clear: (It read): Luna Was Here!

~~Repeat Chorus, and the lead guitarist, Mr. Axelband, does his majic here with a big solo~~

Ps - you might notice a few sweet PJ posters in my house. :D

We have a short 4 song EP (with 1 live bonus track), but we're going back in the studio in March to start working on a full length album. If you want to PM your address I'll send you a free copy of the older one for now. :)

I had this idea for a rock opera centering around a boy who wants to grow up to be an astronaut, but he finds a time machine, and in the future, only females are astronauts. I've only written three of the songs though, so I've got a lot of work to do.

The first one is called Mangos & Time Machines and it is about the boy (a teenager) who finds the time machine and he keeps screwing up his first impression on the female astronaut in the future that he falls in love with, so he keeps going back to improve upon his first impression. (btw, if you like McCready style guitar solos, this one by my friend Paul Axelband is just amazing - kicks in around 4:00)

    Mangos & Time Machines

So they say I was walking
Sad to say its Sunday I’m alone
Someday I’m coming back for you
But for now it seems I’m going home

    (Chorus)
Got to go get in my time machine
Want first impressions, they go perfectly
Just like dead flowers that hide amongst the weeds
    Homes for fireflies…Temporarily

Looking up at mangos, I see
All those pretty faces they’re staring back at me
you reach for the fruit endlessly
half aware I’m from the future, how dare me

    (Chorus again)
Got to go get in my time machine
Want first impressions, they go perfectly
Just like dead flowers that hide amongst the weeds
    Homes for fireflies…Temporarily

You say you’re not ready for the future
Hitching rides from perfect strangers and spacemen
The ceilings ride higher than lightning
You don’t know if you don’t give it a chance

(Chorus again, BIG guitar solo here, fade out...)

this is so exciting and that song was perfect!
The echo..ing with the voices perfect for a spacey time warp mood,
    I love the lyrics, beautiful.

I need this for the hot tub and a black sky full of stars! 8-)

Your rock opera and the plot so creative Jonny ...
    it's gonna be a masterpiece...

I think I am witnessing history being made! :D

    Thanks Pandora!

This one is kinda sad...about a guy who just cant shake the monotony of his dull routine. Oddly, the music that accompanies this song is more punk rock than all of our others.

    The Wheel

I’ve been laying in one place
There's no sun to find my face

    Static on the t.v. set
MY muscles withered, how they forget

Finally got out of the house
but its a big maze, and I’m a small mouse

Try to move forward in time
But I'm afraid to become one of a kind

Go to headphones and don’t raise my eyes
Tuck in my shirt, now i'm just another guy

Got a paycheck, to pay my bill
But i'm back in bed, laying still

There's no rest for my mind,
And tomorrow i'll do it one more time

    One last time…
    Get behind…
    The wheel…
    And drive…
    Leavin tonight…
    Leave this life…
    One last time…
