Right before Mike's solo he says something like "Yea, yea, james through to Michael". What the heck is he saying? Can anyone isolate the vocals? It's happens at 2:55 in the song.

    I think you're right.

My favorite was always "Red rover red rover let Mike McCready take over"

The "yea, yea, don't vote republican" line is on the outro of the version I'm talking about.

Does anyone know what the heck Ed is saying in this version before Mike goes into his solo? (He says it at 2:55 into the song).

Does anyone have dog ears and can figure it out? :-)

I could be thinking of another version, but I think he says; "let me introduce you to Michael"

  • Not quite sure, but this brings up a misheard lyrics story on my part:

for the longest time in Go, a friend of mine truly thought he was singing "Never enter the Peace Corps, don't go Amish now." Turns out Ed's lyrics make much more sense with "Never acted up before, don't go on me now."
How I choose to feel, is how I am.

I can see Ed in an interview in 1993 preaching his disatisfaction with the Amish culture. (Mumbling) Don't ever go amish...
