not to sidetrack this but ive come to realize DMB is no longer the typical "college" or "frat boy" type of music anymore. today is more like dubstep, house music, bad country, and white rappers. just throwing that out there

I may be in the minority, but I am with PT on this one - I would love to see the 2 of them work on something together. My 2 favorite bands & yet each have fan bases that bash the other group. Both bands put on long shows to make sure fans get their money's work. Both guys are certainly "do-gooders" for this world. Both guys seem to like their alcohol.....get sh*t-faced & write a song or even guest with the other band (if the opportunity arises).
Not a fan of DMB... Not since I heard they pulled their bus up next to a bridge and emptied their shitter.
They "claim" it didn't happen.
But some of the DMB fans heard the shit hitting the ground and thought DM was cutting a new record.
Sigh. T-Boz fueling the fire. The common variable on this forum- love of PJ. You rarely get an argument to the contrary (although certainly you wonder if you might given the contempt shown for 10C at times).
DMB and most other bands are not across the board in terms of the respect people want to give them when they are brought up in a thread on this site. Despite the fantastic times I have had at the Gorge and Vegas rocking out to DMB, I'll respectfully accept any haters' position on this forum. I'll shut up now.
They're already sharing the same planet, that's close enough for me....
Like a book among the many on a shelf...
Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12
They already have performed together on two different occasions. The first was in 2004.
I can't rememer the second one but it was just a year or so ago.
I think PT's idea is a great one. I don't like DMB nearly as much as Pearl Jam, but I think it would certainly be interesting.
As far as the hate goes, the passion for which people complain sounds like there's some competition out there for who has the better fanbase and albums. Should I dare to say who cares? They've both had 20 years as bands with varying degrees of success and failure, and have been through experiences of which both deserve a level of respect. This ain't 1995 when Pearl Jam haters were in full force and DMB was just making their rise to the mainstream - and we were young and foolish enough to care whether Pearl Jam was seen as the biggest band on the planet.
As far as their live show, I must admit that I find Dave Matthews shows very up and down. Some shows I walk away and think they are one of the better live bands I've seen, and other times I walk away thinking the show was boring. On the other hand, I don't believe I've walked away from any of the Pearl Jam shows I've seen and felt anything other than I had just experienced one of the most impressive shows of my life.
That being said, there's no real reason for the angry passion. If you don't like DMB, that's cool. If you do, I am sure this would be something interesting and enlightening to see.
DMB isn't even in my top 10 favorite bands, and I would call this something worth seeing.
I think Ed and Jeff Tweedy might be interesting (Chicago born both). Neil Young, Sonic Youth, My Morning Jacket, Neil Finn etc. connections.
Eddie Vedder, Josh Homme, Jeff Tweedy contribute to Live From Nowhere Near You Vol II
Why Not ?
Won't work. Jeff Tweedy wasn't born in Chicago.
Ok I meant Illinois.....close enough
Vedder was born Edward Louis Severson III in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois
Jeffrey Scot "Jeff" Tweedy (born August 25, 1967 in Belleville, Illinois,

That could work...Maybe EV would see that you can get older and still churn out really great lyrics.

fixed.

:-)
I'd gather the fac t that I've never heard any of his albums (DM that is), have no clue if he has a new album or whatever....
That.... He tours every year for 30 weeks means he has a shtick and is obviously making money.
Bon Jovi was amazing to a 14 year old boy in 1986.... But when I saw him in 1988 not so much. His show was completely lifeless boring.
I'd gather that DMB has his diehard fans that would argue with you he is the greatest musician ever. Say la vi, to each their own.
:-)
