Mass-produced, 120 gram, no frills, paper sleeve vinyl for $9.99-12.99...
or
Limited-edition, 180 gram, fancy gatefold packaging, polylined sleeve for 19.99-29.99?

Nope. I've been paying 9.99 to 13.99 depending on the record label.0 -
I'd love to find new vinyl for $10. I'm consistently paying $20-$25 regardless of weight.0

i must admit i'm a sucker for fancy gatefolds..
and i'm always afraid a regular paper inner sleeve won't protect the the record well enough0 -
I have both, 120 g and 180 g, I like both of them, I have many black vinyl from the 80's, they are superb, not all the 90's vinyl have the same quality, but of course, 180 g is kinda better, I don't mind as long as they are black... have you ever seen a red or blue traslucent/transparent/clear or whatever 180 g vinyl?... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...0

I don't think there actually is a sound difference. But the 180 gram is a sturdier record. When FASCISM Comes To America
it will be wrapped in the FLAG and
carrying a CROSS.0 -

180g can sound better b/c they can press the grooves deeper(part of the reason 45rpm sounds better), also causing 180g to have a shorter running time.
And I was just saying I don't care about the weight, I just want it to sound good.0 -

Don't get me wrong I love a 180 gram 2LP
set with a nice gatefold- their beautiful. But honesty I get sick of flipping the record over and over after 2 or 3 songs. So I'd go with the 120 gram LP. Fit it all on one record!Fenway 1 & 2 2016
MSG 1 & 2 2016
Central Park 2015
Barclays 2, Seattle 2013
MSG 1 & 2 2010

I knew it was red, I didn't know it was red AND clear... thanks for the tip... I don't have that on vinyl, and I guess I will never have it, and it's ok...okblueduck wrote:Don't get me wrong I love a 180 gram 2LP

I completely understand you, I have the same feeling about double vinyl, 3 songs, around 15 minutes of music, kinda boring flipping records over and over, but the worst is the The Song Remains The Same vinyl reissue, how on earth did someoen figured out to put half Dazed and confused on one side and the other half on the other side, at least, they are on the same record...... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...0
