I have never seen cocaine. Nor would I even know where to go to buy it. And I avoid it because it is illegal. But I've heard it's fun. And if I could go buy it legally at the corner store, sooner or later I would give it a try.

Also, is there or is there not a black market for painkillers?
You can't blame the fact that it's available for your use - you could go find it right now if you wanted to. If you don't do it cause it's illegal, good for you. But if you WOULD do it just because it's legal....I don't know what to tell you. But it would be your prerogative to do so. You're a grown man, you can decide what to put in your body.
What's your point with the black market for painkillers? Of course there is. There is a black market for nearly every product in existence.
We can flip that question and ask what you think the result would be if they criminalized painkillers? It would make that black market a deadly, incredibly profitable one. As is right now, it's somewhat contained as most people can still get scripts for them one way or another.
I understand that there would be challenges legalizing hard drugs. Namely - patent laws, regulatory costs, liability, and insurance.....all crippling issues in the current pharma market. But issues that need to be dealt with already. Why not make drug reforms the impetus to fix the whole bloody thing? (ya right, right? ) The FDA is one of the most corrupt agencies in a sea of corruption....
I know this is so unlikely to happen that it's damn near utopian...It would take a paradigm shift to change the public mindset, and there are powerful, entrenched interests opposing it. Still, I think it's important to keep considering new options because what we're doing now is not helping anyone....well...except the CIA, organized crime, for-profit prison owners, and their prison (slave) labour clients....

The 80s get a bad rap when it comes to music. LOTS of GREAT music came out of the 80s. I'd take it over almost any decade other than the 90s.
I can't tell if I'm on topic or not :D

There was good music hidden in the 80's, but all I remember is Tears for Fears screaming "Shout, Shout, Let it all out!" at me over and over and over on MTV. Don't even get me started on Hair Metal.

Plus, Springsteen kinda freaked out, fired the E-Street Band, and put out Tunnel of Love. ;)
