Personally, the optimist in me wants to think that if a species is advanced enough to have developed methods of travel at greater than light speed (or to live long enough for a light-year journey), they'd have evolved past using violence as a means to an end.

Most of the Hollywood invaders come ill-prepared... like the 'Signs' aliens that melt when contacted with water coming to a planet that is 3/4% water. Would humans want to settle planet that was 75% battery acid? And if we did... would we travel there naked?

My twin brother and two friends had a very similar thing happen to them. They are all honest intelligent people and they saw what could only be called a UFO.

Nothing they had ever seen before, or could explain.
