Why not have one master lunch lady too and have the kids prepare food while we are at it? You could probably save money by firing all the elementary teachers and having high school kids teach those classes.
Doesn't his campaign manager have some device to alert him to close this mouth ... oh, that's right, they all quit.
quitting. toow.
Seriously, can any Newt supporter answer this? Is there going to be a committee in the schools who decides which kids lack work ethic and which don't?
Where I'm from, the poorer kids are the ones with jobs, and the rich kids are the ones with no work ethic who's parents buy them hummers...Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Honestly American polotics is FUCKING STUPID a race to the bottom
And to add still more insight into his lack of touch with reality, I used to live in Newt's congressional district in suburban Atlanta, until about 6 weeks ago. I lived there for 15 years.
I am a CPA with a sterling resume who was laid off from IBM (who is offshoring every job not nailed down) in March of 2010 and COULD NOT FIND A JOB of any kind in metro Atlanta, where the housing market is down over 35% (making just about everyone upside down in their mortgages and the foreclosure rate one of the highest in the country) and where the 'official' unemployment rate is about 10%, but where, once the people who have been jobless for so long they have lost their benefits are factored in, is closer to about 16%.
I looked HARD for a job for 16 months before finally giving up and moving back to Anchorage, Alaska to find work - a 5,000 mile+ move that was NOT cheap. I still own my home in Atlanta (which I am now sporting a paper loss of $50,000 on) and have an apartment here as well...so I'm poor as a fucking church mouse and can not contribute to the so-called 'recovery' via any sort of consumer spending. But at least I can put a few groceries on the table again. Even if most of the time, that means rice or spaghetti.
That Newt, who ought to know about current conditions in Atlanta for unemployed professionals, would talk this sort of trash is reprehensible. If he thinks the maximum unemployment benefit in Georgia ($330 per week) gets a professional person with a mortgage very far, he is fucking HIGH. Professional people all over town are losing their homes and sleeping in their fucking cars...and apparently, Newt thinks it's because they are 'lazy'.
Fuck Newt. And the horse he rode in on.0 -

i believe that some here would say that you should have worked 3-5 part time jobs to cover the loss of your professional job such as at burger king or target and then buy your shampoo in bulk and eat kraft dinner every night until you could get a better job ... complaining is not taking responsibility for your life ...
i'm sorry to hear about your situation - it's probably a common story in a lot of places ...0 -

This has got to be just another sad cry for attention from a blatant troll, no? (talking about Newt, honest)
He said he was not advocating revamping child labor laws or suggesting children drop out of school to become janitors. "I'm talking about working 20 hours a week and being empowered to succeed."

I think earning a buck in your youth is important. I mowed enough lawns with a push to save up to buy a rider in 6th grade. That afforded me the opprotunity to increase my yard count and make more...
