i enjoy when artists do covers of particular xmas songs... but whole albums just come across as pure cheese. i listened to the she & him xmas album on break the other day and had to turn it off after 4 songs. i love those two, but it was just tacky lol

Yeah i don't think we need a full on EV Christmas album. That said, Let Me Sleep and Someday at Christmas are absolute Christmas staples for our family.

I agree...same with the Weiland album. A couple of songs on their own are ok but as an entire album its just dreadful to listen to.

I've wanted this for years... I love Christmas and holiday music

I spin Lost Dogs with my Christmas tunes because Let Me Sleep It's Christmastime
is my favorite Christmas song of all time :D It's lovely

Would love to hear Ed do some traditional light hearted seasonal songs 8-)

like 'Baby Its Cold Outside' ;);) that would warm me right up :D

I would love one! I have the Christmas singles that are holiday themed on my Christmas play list. I love the rendition of Jingle Bells . I enjoy Santa God. They already have 5 songs recorded and out there so I guess I have the equivalent of an EP . I just got the My Morning Jacket Christmas EP and I love the Chris Cornell version of Ave Maria. Why not more of the bands I enjoy on the Christmas playlist?

'Baby it's Cold Outside' would be a good one. Ed would also sound good doing Let it Snow or White Christmas. Oh, he could also so do The Little Drummer Boy. I would buy it.
  • It'll be released in March. ;)

In light of the Pearl Jam gospel album thread below, it had the wheels in my brain turning. What would fit neatly in a musical catalog that includes a folksy film soundtrack, an album of ukelele songs, and an assortment of soundtrack songs? I don't know how Eddie feels about Christmas and the holidays, but I would absolutely love for him to do a Christmas album. Eddie can not only do his own ukelele and acoustic renditions on Christmas classics, but he's shown the ability that he can write his own good Christmas tunes (Let Me Sleep; 4th "I wish" line in Wishlist). I don't think you have to be religious to enjoy the holidays. I would consider myself agnostic, but the holidays are my favorite time of years, for the values that it stands for, like sharing and showing goodwill onto others.

Come on, Scott Weiland has a Christmas Album (No Joke http://www.amazon.com/Most-Wonderful-Ti ... 634&sr=8-1). Eddie, you could make one that people actually like!
    ...
There are a few... a very few... Christmas songs that I would like... but, better off on a Holiday Single than an entire album (which I agree, would be the death of credibility).
'River' - Joni Mitchell or 'Christmastime is Here' or 'Merry Christmas From The Family', for example.
Almost all other Christmas songs... nope.

    credibility????
if pj released a Christmas/gospel album....they would lose all crediblity? one album would cancel all their previous work?

    you have lost your mind.
live and let live...unless it violates the pearligious doctrine.

oh god, no! 'Christmas album' makes me think of the likes of Josh Groban, Cliff Richard, Barbara Streisand, et al...crooners, with nothing else left to pull out of the box. And a PJ Gospel Album?? I dunno whether to laugh or cry or hit someone.

How abt we stick to our day-jobs and let Eddie &/the band make the music eh? They've done pretty well so far without resorting to such 'novelties', wouldn't you say?

Personally if ever there was to be an Ed Ved Chrissie album and I was high enough to buy it and put the needle on the record, it would be the end of it all...I can picture myself looking at the album cover and asking why I ever thought so highly of him.
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?

  • Ya know I said before and I'll say it again. Some of these responses are so sad.

So Pearl Jam oe Eddie decided to do a Gospel Album, or a Christmas Album

because it goes against some of your belief systems its a horrible Idea? Good GOD I hope they never do another
50's cover like last kiss we may lose half of 10c if they do that...right???

They are a band people and they may have ideas of songs or albums that you may not agree with (ie: Ole` )

doesn't mean they're jumping the shark, doesn't mean they are running out of material, maybe they just want to do something out of the ordinary just to keep you guessing.....

Ya think? Lighten' up 10c'rs its just a freaking question

I got memories. I got shit so much it don't show."

a christmas album is far from "out of the ordinary". christmas albums should be reserved for flavour of the month pop stars. you know, the ones who don't have the capability of writing their own music? it's pure cheese at it's finest and nothing but a gimmick. i love christmas music because christmas is my favourite time of the year (next to halloween), but i'll be damned if my favourite band does something as tacky as a christmas album lol
about the whole religious thing... if i want to listen to a song about god, i'll either a.) go to church, or b.) buy a gospel album. i never want to associate pearl jam with religion. they're not that type of band and i'd like to keep it that way.
  • You'd like to keep it that way...YOU...Like you have a say on what music the band decides to record. C'mon now , what if Ed doesn't or Mike doesn't? What if Olivia comes to her Dad and says "Daddy I want you to make a Christmas record" You gonna fault him for doing something against YOUR norm? beause you think its cheesy or tacky?

yes I'D like to keep it that way. meaning that I want to because it's MY opinion. I never once said that I have creative control over pearl jams music. and yes, I would fault them for doing something out of their norm. do ME a favour and find ME a lyric of pearl jams that references a belief in god. metaphors and story telling doesn't count. I want a first person lyric. i'll wait.

their credibility from their previous work would still be there, but anything after would be questionable. look at what happened to weezer after "make believe".

excellent point... let the guys do their thing

people change through life, experiences and love change them,
if someone found out their core beliefs had changed would they really abandon them

    that's crazy talk

it is not our call what they do

above all else one does not have to agree with someone,
to love them, to be kind to them or respect their beliefs.

Honor Pearl Jam for who they are ... they have proven worthy... don't we all feel that.
If they change in the years to come embrace the changes, it's all good.
