Hey guys!

Does anyone here knows why there aren't any 2011 bootlegs? In the past, a couple of days after the concert, the bootlegs were already on the website. Why is it taking so long now?

Tks!

They are taking their time to get better sound quality - since they received feedback from fans that the 2009 / 2010 bootlegs were not up to standard

I hope that's true. The 08/09/10 boots were indeed shit quality.
  • Habit from PJ20 Day 2 was played on PJ Radio earlier today, and it sounded awesome. Actually, Liam Finn was more clear on the recording that he was live.

Shit quality? Hardly. Man, are we ever spoiled now. Back in the day I would've killed to have a bootleg that sounded as decent as what PJ has been putting out since the early 2000s. When I was a kid I used to pay upwards of $30 a pop for a crappy audience boot that I would stumble across in some indie record shop, just so I could own some live music by my favorite bands. Then I discovered the wonderful world of tape trading (the good old pre-Internet "blanks & postage" days). Quality soundboard recordings were hard to find back then, and it was only through trading that I managed to find a few good ones. And once in a while I'd get lucky and manage to tape a few live performances off the radio. What Pearl Jam has been doing with all the mp3 downloads, CDs, and box sets of live material...it's amazing! These guys certainly know what the fans want, and they give it to us in spades.

If the 2008-2010 boots sounded half as good as those from the early 2000s, you'd have a point.

As it is, I'll take an audience recording of those shows over the official soundboards.

Well, Bevis, Pearl Jam set a standard in official bootlegs from 2000-2006. The 2008-2010 bootlegs do not adhere to these standards. The mixing is poor. You can't hear Mike when he takes a solo. The balance is all out of wack and there's too much echo. So, yes, I think the recent boots are shit. If you don't like it, you can kiss my ass.

Whoa, settle down. My post wasn't a shot against you personally. We obviously just have a difference in opinion. All I was trying to say was that the quality on the recent shows are night and day when compared to what bootlegs used to sound like, and I just found it kinda funny that someone would be complaining. That's all. I will agree that the 2009/2010 shows have a bit too much echo on them. But for the most part I still think they sound just fine. With the amount of time they seem to be taking with the 2011 boots, I imagine these ones will have the best sound quality yet.

I think they'll definitely release them in time for the holidays, probably within the next couple of weeks.
