dont see many of those offset heads anymore...If it was me, I'd just unscrew the old one off & put on a whole new head/cartridge...(assuming the mount is what I would call a standard)..I use Shure, but there are many others to choose from. ..Try Guitar Center, they have tons...also, might want to look into a stylus/cartridge/headshell combo..one thats already put together...if not, those little screws & wires can be a pain, especially if your not used to doing it before...my2cents...HAVE FUN!

I dunno. It looks to me like you can just plug in a p-mount cartridge (after the aforementioned thorough cleaning) and call it a day.

fair enough, but I'd at least get a new stylus...who knows what that old one has been through...nothing can screw up a BS White Vinyl faster than an old, rough stylus

***EDIT***....duh...JTH is right...straight up p-mount...i was getting confused, looking at all the different pics...my bad...listen to JTH, he's correct. (But I'd still get a new stylus, though)

OK, yeah. But I'm pretty sure any new cartridge is going to come with a stylus. So that's what I meant.

Can I go into any record store and get a p-mount thingy?

    How much should it cost?

Does that include a needle as well?

If you have a record store around you that also sells turntables you should clean yours up and take it to them and ask them if they have a 'CARTRIDGE' that fits ... They may even hook it up and make sure everything is working properly... So far all you need is a Cartridge and the type/style of Cartridge that is compatible with your turntable is called a P-Mount Cartridge.... I would check out the record shops. Since you're new to turntables and vinyl, it will be a lot easier for someone that can get their hands on the gear and show you what to do and what not to do..

You should be fine using windex to clean it up... Maybe try and use a lint free cloth and spray the cleaner on to the cloth and then wipe it down with a dry cloth once you're done with the cleaning.

I have never personally broken a stylus, but our cleaning lady has done it not once, not twice, but thrice when she was dusting the turntable.

OK, I probably sound like some elitist fuck blaming "the help" here but really, three times? COME ON!

    The arm locks down, yes.

And I've got a plastic cover for the cartridge. If I'd just remember to put the damned thing on when I"m not using the turntable, this would never happen.

Fortunately, I've got two turntables, so when one's out of commission, there's a backup.
