I need a 2 TB external hard drive help please

I need to get a 2 TB hard drive for all my PJ stuff but looking around on amazon and newegg and reading reviews it's impossible to find a good one (at least it seems that way) tons of review with externals arriving DOA or failing after 6-12 months.

What do you guys suggest?

    Best Buy has 2tb externals drives for $150. Cant beat that. I have had a few Western Digital and they have worked beautifully.

    Make sure you get one with the latest usb capabilities 3.0 or 3.0 whatever.

    we have one, forget the brand... althought it's no where near 2 TB, it's been cranking along for several years....

    seems like nowadays, you need a backup of your back ups

    Western Digital makes good external drives. If you have firewire I'd look for one of those.

    Costco has 2TB external Seagate drives for $99! Pretty good deal & Seagate's supposed to be one of the best brands.

    I just had a hard drive crash and went to a tech to fix it. When I asked him what I should look for when buying a new drive, something he suggested was to buy a drive that was easily accessable, meaning easy to open up in case it ever needs repaired. He said Lacie and Seagates are a pain in the ass for him because they typically don't have exposed screws and are nearly impossible to open up without destroying the drive. Just a thought.

    If you're comfortable handling a screwdriver and aren't intimidated by plugging in a few cables I would recommend picking up an empty enclosure and bare drive (from Best Buy or wherever). Often times bare drives will come with a longer warranty than the ones in enclosures. In addition if you ever decide to replace the drive with a larger one you'll only need to pay for the drive.
