Pearl Jam Hard Drive

I don't have the quantity of music to do it, but I thought I'd throw it out to the board:

My buddy is a huge Phish fan and recently got a copy of an external hard drive containing, literally, every recorded Phish show in the band's history. Once someone (or multiple people) compiled it, subsequent fans paid the $60-80 to buy an external hard drive and got a copy. Granted, its way, way too much music to put on your ipod, but you can browse through it and listen to just about any show, song, appearance you want.

Seems like something that would be awesome to have for pearl jam. Anyone interested in starting something like that?

Back when I first started my PJ bootleg collection, someone on the boards offered to copy his collection to a hard drive for me. All I had to do was ship him a blank hard drive and include a box to ship it back to me and return shipping. He sent me like 100-150 shows.

I am not really great with computers (but how card can copying a hard drive be). I might be willing to do the same for someone.

willing to help any way i can. I can set up an ftp site on a 2tb drive and leave it up to collect everything, this would be great, and then we can just add new stuff as time goes on

Glad there's some interest in this. I wish I had more technical know-how.

One suggestion I have (which I could help with potentially) is to create a folder structure by year that includes every show. As the hard drive is circulated, hopefully it will continue to fill up. That way we'll know exactly what shows are included and what shows are outstanding.

  • afew yrs back...on the other forum... sent some dude an external. he sent it back with every pj show ever recorded from 90 - 03, also got some of the 03s-06's that didnt fit onto it on about 30 or so blank dvds.

this is 100s of shows in flac/shn format.

im sure a bunch of people here remember the audio archives that were compiled... but there have been so many upgrades its hard to keep track these days of what the hell i actually have
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

Do you still have that 90-03 collection? That would be the best place to start!

working on the file structure of the ftp site and getting a domain name (free one) set up. Should have the details up tonight and we can start this project, i think its gonna be great, i was thinking we should have a video folder also for the video recording we can dig up, i know i have a bunch in boxes i can transfer from vhs to encode on computer to a format we can all watch. if someone else has a better copy of the same show they can upload it and replace the worse one
  • This sounds pretty awesome. I have all the official boots from 2000 to current, but not much before that. Everything I have is .mp3 so the file sizes aren't that large. Hopefully the FTP stays nice and organized, like a root folder for each year, and then each show in order inside of that. That's how I set up my own personal folder at least.

yea the file structure will be something like 3 folders, Audio, Video and Bulk Upload. so people can upload alot of stuff at once without worrying about file structure in the Bulk folder. then the sub folders will be the 4 digit year, then the sub of those will be 4 digit date code followed by city (1028 - Seattle, WA) something like that, im open to suggestions
  • Count me in!! :D Thanks.. I might poop myself a little
I will be what i could be

I'm in, but careful of encouraging bootlegging. Since I missed out on the BluRay, I was seeking someone to make a copy for me and got my wrist slapped. Didn't read the rules about bootlegging.

I'm interested in this hard drive idea as long as we aren't breaking 10c rules.

    Thanks!

Psst ... I can help you out fellow Canuck. ;) Though which PJ digital goodies would you like from the 9+ TB's worth of PJ audio / video I have backed up on Western Digitals HD's? hmm ...
