I don't consider myself a huge Who fan but I never tire of listening to Quadrophenia and Who's Next.

The deluxe edition of "Who's Next" is a winner in my book.

The Who By Numbers is a solid record from them. Really underrated in my opinion, and as far as The Who goes, I listen to it pretty regularly.

The influence of Blue, Red & Grey on Soon Forget is remarkable.

Start with The Who Sell Out and Who's Next

    Then get
    Tommy and Quadrophenia

    Then get
The Who Sings My Generation and A Quick One

    Then get
Who by Numbers and Who Are You

    Then get
Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy and Live @ Leeds

Then live in regret that you never got to see the band.

If you're into vinyl, all of these albums are huge and wouldn't be too hard to find at an inexpensive price.

This is also a cool book to read while listening to the albums called Eyewitness: The Who. It's a pain to read cover to cover because it's so broken up. But it gives a good and in depth detail of the band during the albums' releases so you can have more of a back story (and it's as low as $2.50 used).

  • Quadrophenia is one of the greatest albums ever made. Who's Next isn't far behind that.

  • Quadrophenia first, middle, last

    Who's Next

    Tommy

Who Sings My Generation their debut

    Who By Numbers

Odds and Sods their Lost Dogs

That's the order. I've been a Who fan since before I was born. And no, I'm not kidding.

Then get A Quick One, Empty Glass ( Townshend solo) then just pick whatever you can't go wrong

But do Quadrophenia first. You will see why Eddies idol is Pete
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
  • Oh and get Live at Isle of Wight 2 discs of pure magic

Nice...I saw them at the Gorge a few days afterwards. It's always nice to be able to cross off "Seeing Townshend smash a guitar after playing Won't Get Fooled Again" from the bucket list.

I agree - I think these are the three strongest 'albums'. Sometimes I listen to the best stuff from other albums on Who compilations. The Who were a cracking singles band - some of the 'best of' collections out there really deliver the goods too.
