I have never smoked marijuana, but I do not think that it should be illegal...I also think that it can have a lot of health benefits for people with various ailments. This latest action by the government really disgusts me. With all the problems our country has and all the real crime that goes on out there, I do not believe this is the best use of resources.
What do you all think about Obama's administration toughening its stand on medical marijuana, as mentioned in the article?

WTF??
Marijuana is illegal?0 -
i didn't read the entire article but i am familiar with the issue. this is where i would support ron paul. the government has the wrong priority here. they could make it legal and generate revenue by taxing it. and there are medical benefits associated with it. decreased pain and increased appetite are 2 of the big ones. i mean tylenol has 3 main benefits that i can think of, pain reduction, fever reduction, and it is an anti-coagulant.
all we are going to do is create more crime with drug gangs competing for business.
herbs that can be bought over the counter are legal and they are not even regulated. i don't get why pot is treated any differently."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I don't think he has a damn chance of stopping it thanks to dual federalism. 8-)0 -

Legalize it. Tax it. Regulate it's use like Alcohol. Convert tobacco fields to pot fields.
Benefits:
Mexican Drug Cartels cannot compete with Phillip Morris Corp.
No more worrying about smuggling pot across the border.
No need for illegal worker farm hands... American teenagers will line up for miles to pick the stuff for pennies... as long as they get paid in pot.
U.S. can finally declare the 'War On Drugs' a victory... and we get another 3-day weekend.
Have Oakland/Alameda Stadium convert from beer to pot and end the majority of senseless violence in Alameda County... and boost nachos sales.
Cons:
More... wait... you know... more of...
...
what?Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
Hail, Hail!!!0 -
I've had two people very close to me die because of alcohol but have never known anyone to even get injured let alone die from marijuana. In fact I've known people who have benefited greatly from medical marijuana. What a travesty. Shutting down the dispensaries makes no sense at all."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

I'm torn on this one... I don't think the federal government should have any say in a states decision to allow medical marijuana. That being said, the federal government should be consistent and not pick and choose what laws to enforce.0

fuck the feds. and fuck Obama, the fucking hypocrite. there is now way to intellectualize this, because it is fucking stupid. that's all.Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.0

One and done for Barack Hussein Obama.
Another example of him losing.

He doesn't know who he is. At least or former two term President stood for his beliefs.

AP Newsbreak: New medical marijuana policy issued
By DEVLIN BARRETT

WASHINGTON —
The Obama administration will not seek to arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, under new policy guidelines to be sent to federal prosecutors Monday.
Two Justice Department officials described the new policy to The Associated Press, saying prosecutors will be told it is not a good use of their time to arrest people who use or provide medical marijuana in strict compliance with state laws.
The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes.0 -

In other words, you attack Obama when you hear he's cracking down on marijuana use, and you attack him again when you find out he's not cracking down on marijuana use?
So the bottom line is you don't like Obama, and you're dislike of him has nothing to do with his policies. Maybe it's just because he's black, or a democrat?0 -

Yeah, I'm really surprised to see those guys railing on Obama for this. I didn't realize we agreed that all drugs should be legalized (or at least the ones that aren't harmful, e.g., pot, shrooms and lsd)Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.0 -

I think you would be surprised, many who would align themselves with tea party beliefs would also believe in an end to the silly war on drugs. One of the greatest moments of this political year came when Ron Paul talked about it in the debate in south carolina i believe, and shortly after introduced a bill that would make only trafficking drugs across state and federal borders a criminal offense...

I am not sure who is against marijuana legalization more, the federal government or the drug cartels...hmmm let me think about this one...looks like the mexican and colombian governments aren't the only ones in bed with the drug cartels. Too bad that more neo-cons cannot rectify their beliefs long enough to end this silly national war on drugs. Can you imagine the good that would be done by the DEA being around to catch white collar criminals instead?that’s right! I think this needed to happen a long time ago. Simply because the Supreme Court needs to decide this once and for all. Is it a states' rights issue, or do federal laws trump that? SCOTUS needs to make a ruling on it.Rock me Jesus, roll me Lord...
