he isnt mentioned much in the PJ20 book either. there is a beautiful book called "Grunge is Dead" by Greg Prato that is quite beautifully written and has interviews with close friends and family of Layne .... a good book all round.

Saw AIC once on the Dirt tour in the UK. awesome. but messed up....

and "Wake Up" by Mad Season..... what a song. what. a. song.

Mad Season was just totally "there"
How can you help but be deeply moved by that music?
It just seeps up inside your soul and takes over completely
    Gives me chills

and there you go....Layne was such a huge factor in Mike's life...but it is what it is

And yes...Mikee...I would too..it would be difficult to get through for us....but a well-deserved honor if done "right" and with respect
    peace,

  • he was even more-so involved in pj's life. sure, the tabloids blew up the eddie vs. kurt/pj vs. nirvana thing...but layne hung out with the band sometimes, mike and layne did mad season etc... he was an unbelievable artist in my eyes and i'm really curious to hear how his death had an impact on the band...we all know eddie's hidden song on lost dogs..

i have the pj20 book, which thus far has included just about everything. i'm only on the 1995 chapter so maybe that will talk about it.

Layne died in 2002 and they hardly covered anything from 2000 on in the movie. It was mostly on the early years of the band.

Ha! SO true, another fantastic voice -- I still remember skipping classes in high school to go drink copious amounts of coffee and smoke while feeding quarter after quarter into the juke they had there to play No Rain one more time

It's really like it was all yesterday, and 100 years ago all at the same time
    You got that right!!! +1000.

Yup my exact though, not even Mad Season was said. They always used to play together.

I would say as far as telling the story of the band, KC had a bigger impact, whereas Staley's death was more of a personal thing for the guys, if you get what I mean. Also, Crowe pointed out in an interview the the footage of Ed and KC dancing was the big piece of archival footage that they found.
    4 hours of extra footage.

With 3 hours taken up by the 2 extra films and the half hour of bonus footage that still doesn't leave much room for Staley.
  • hmm i still wonder why not much of a mention in the book though. the book is phenomenal and has covered just about everything i can think of thus far.

  • One tragic overdose and one suicide mention wasn't enough in the movie?
