Agreed. Alpine was on a whole other spiritual plane, no comparison.

What does that mean exactly? You would go to PJ20 over the 10 Canadian shows?

    Nope, IMO.
  • Given the fact that it's like the 'golden anniversary' for the band and huge celebration... don't you think you're stating the obvious from a 'general perspective'?

Wasn't at PJ20, but am going to Van tomorrow. From my perspective... I'll tell you that Vancouver will be PJ's best show of the year! Regardless of what they play and whatever happens, it's going to be frickin great.

Last show's of the leg/tour are always the greatest. Have a great time! :)

ps .. if you see Mike, tell him to play "Be Like Wind". Pretty please!!

On paper, I'd take almost every Canadian setlist over both PJ20 sets. But that's just me. Of course, you can't account for "atmosphere" and things like that, but bootleg wise, I'd take the Canadian sets first.

I was at PJ20 Alpine, will be at Vancouver. I'll give my honest opinion after show tomorrow.

That's like me saying Manchester '09 was better than PJ20. (which it was :lol::lol::lol::lol: )

Daft thread which will only start more arguments
    2000: Manchester
    2006: Dublin; Leeds; Arnhem
    2007: London
    2009: Manchester
    2012: Manchester I & II : EV Manchester : Soundgarden Shepherds Bush
2013: Brad Manchester : Soundgarden Manchester
2014: Amsterdam I & II; Berlin; Leeds; Milton Keynes
2018: Berlin; London II; Boston II

  • Considering I wasn't able to attend PJ20, for me the Canadian tour was better simply because I had the chance to see Pearl Jam three times in the span of a week. I'll never understand why fans need to elevate everything to the status of being "the best" simply so they can then turn around and say "I was there".

It's almost as if attending the right shows somehow makes you special. I've never been to a show that would be considered significant by most fans, yet I consider myself fortunate every time I see the band play. As far as I'm concerned, the best shows are always the ones you attend.
  • On paper.....

I would take ANY of these Canada shows over Alpine....

    Any of them....
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Yeah, people always want to be at "THE" show. Some people are very competitive in that respect. And the thing is, nobody will ever agree on this, and for many, whatever show they were at was the best show ever.

I remember back in '03 I went to the Dallas show, it was a good show, kind of odd and not my favorite show ever, but I had a great time. I woke up the next morning and logged on here, and somebody had started a thread that was titled something like "You Dallas Fans got screwed - And Here's Why", then the thread was basically the poster (who was not at Dallas or even heard a bootleg) comparing the setlist from the Dallas show to the setlist of the show he had been to, and telling us why we should feel cheated.

There is always going to be "Pearl Jam loves out city/country more than yours" threads, or for shows that the poster was at even if they aren't native, simply because people like to feel like they were there for Pearl Jam history.

Yes. The 6 shows I've been too where the best Pearl Jams definitely. Actually no, 5 of them were the best!

I think Speedy should be the next Holy Grail recipient...we should all pitch in and buy him a new grill and coolers. Just a thought.
P.S. PJ20 was one of a kind. And, I'm sure, so was the Canadian tour. To me, each show is special.
