    Loved the video, very good song, covers it all like a project ...a variety of sound and feel

    Yesterday while working out in the gym this song came up on my Itouch randomly which I haven;t heard in ages. Let me tell you the my story behind it. It was 1991-92 the song started my relationship/friendship with musician Michael Franti....the song is about something I went through in Junior High bullying and STILL rings through today.
    This is Franti's story of bullying and how it captivated me and what I went through and how I handled it...give a listen to the words.....

    Very nice and laid back and takes me back to the 70's when music was so free flowing. I think I'm still a flower child. :D

    While speaking to Michael in London, England I asked him or actually he asked me how I started listening to his music and I told him. He really doesn't like to speak about this period of his musical career. He was a student of philosophy at the University of San Francisco and there to play basketball (he could play some hoops for real). He says he was so angry and chose rap as his style of dilivering his music.

    Many misinterpret the song and think it's a homophobic song when it's really about bullying and what happens to the bully in the end. He went through his share of bullying being now 6ft 6, mixed race, adopted in a white family in SF. I shared my story of being bullied and he understood why the song touched me so when I first heard it...it was literally almost the same exact situations he discribed in his lyrics.

    Awesome you looked up the words....there was a time he didn't have them published or they couldn't be found on the internet. He's one of the few musicians I know who gives his annual free concert in the SF Bay area on 9/11 called Power To The Peaceful which was started BEFORE 9/11 about 12 years now. I may catch up tomorrow. Wow that was long. :D
